Hey My ON 100% whey is running out so I'm thinking about buying some new whey protein powder. I'm fine with just WPC and I was leaning towards these 2 cheap types. Both are unflavoured (which I will live with since you save a fair amount).
I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with this, since both are similar in price.
One is venom protein. It seems to have a slightly lower protein content/gram (30g of protein/40g serve) and it's $85 + free delivery for 4kg. So it's basically 3kg of protein in that 4kg bag.
(search up venom protein powder australia in google)
The other is:
(search up professional whey australia in google)
It's stats seem more similar to the ON Gold Standard 100% whey i have, with 24g of protein/30g. It's selling for $78.50 for a 4kg bag but shipping is $12 flat rate so that makes it $90.50 ($5 more than venom). But it yields 3.2kg of protein/4kg so i worked out that basically they each give pretty much identical amounts of protein/dollar of cost so it all comes down to amino acid profile, quality, and how well it dissolves, etc. Sadly the professionalwhey one doesn't list any details about the amino acid profile so no real comparison there.
But yes i was wondering if any Aussie's have used either of these before and their thoughts/experiences?

Hey mate,
I have had personal experience with professional whey and its it fantastic quality. Thier range of amino acids are great for the price too.
I recently however stumbled upon this site which in my opinion is the best so far. Its a bulk powder supplier that offers 7 different flavours (good ones too) and even offers mixer tubs etc.
I will PM you the website due to forum rules. (you should be careful to post links to other online stores)
you might want to edit your post."Do not look to the ground for your next step; greatness lies with those who look to the horizon."

Thanks for the heads up. I edited it. I also PMed you back with some questions about how the mixer tub thing works because it seems preetty awesome to be able to have multiple flavours. And i realised it's actually cheaper if i'm going to go unflavoured, to buy from your second site you PMed me because for 5kg its $95 so for equivalent for 4kg its $76 + $7 shipping is 82 dollars for 4kg worth (still 3 dollars cheaper than venom) but i guess i'll be forking out to get 5kg instead of 4kg.

2 really good (and cheap) aussie suppliers are:
www . bulk nutrients . com . au
www . protein direct . com . au
I personally have used bulk nutrients many times, but have heard good things about PD too.
In terms of flavour, the BN banana flavour is dessert.
Edit:
I think those sites also sell flavouring (or at least bn does).

Ive tried some of their samples and was very unimpressed, the flavoured proteins weren't flavoured at all and the mixability wasnt to great, it foamed alot and was very thin and powdery.
But as stated, for the price its good."Do not look to the ground for your next step; greatness lies with those who look to the horizon."

I typically try to stay away from ION Exchange proteins due to their inferior filtration
You are much better off going with a cold pressed / cross-flow micro filtration protein."Do not look to the ground for your next step; greatness lies with those who look to the horizon."

By no means my own writing but i cant be bothered writing it in my own words haha....
Ion Exchange
It yields the highest protein levels of any whey processing method (on a gram-for-gram basis), but don't be fooled. Ion-exchange isolates, like many concentrates, have sacrificed biological activity for quantity.
Ion-exchange isolates are made by running concentrates through what is called an ion exchange column, which separates proteins based on their electrical charge. During this process, many valuable and health-promoting components of whey are selectively depleted or completely lost. (15) One of these is glycomacropeptide, or GMP. (16) In its place, ion-exchange isolates give you an increased concentration of the protein subfraction beta-Lactoglobulin (beta-Lac) - known as whey's least interesting and most allergenic subfraction. (17)
Cross-Flow Microfiltration
In direct contrast to ion exchange, cross-flow microfiltration produces the highest level of undenatured protein available among WPIs. It's a delicate process which comes quite close to the protein concentration levels of ion exchange, while keeping the valuable "extras" that ion exchange discards.
Instead of using destructive chemicals, cross-flow microfiltration uses filters to separate protein from undesirable fat, cholesterol and lactose, based on molecular size and shape.(18) The low-temperature process isolates the native protein of whey at its biologically natural pH, carefully preserving its biological activity. GMPs and other immune-boosting components remain in tact.
Whereas ion exchange keeps only some of whey's biologically active components, cross-flow microfiltration sustains a more complete protein profile-one of optimal balance, as found naturally in whey. There are virtually no denatured proteins, a superior amino acid profile, more calcium and less sodium. WPIs derived from cross-flow microfiltration are widely advocated as the very best source of whey protein."Do not look to the ground for your next step; greatness lies with those who look to the horizon."

The site should tell you what type of filtration method it uses. It will also be listed on most manufacturers labels. If you cant find any of the information, a quick email to the supplier will ussually get you the answers you need.

Hey mate, I use Myopure. Just google it to find the site, I can't post links yet.
Works out to $15 a kilo. It's good stuff. I haven't found cheaper anywhere else. It's made in Australia too. It is un-flavoured so some people might struggle with the taste, but once your used to it, brand name protein tastes too sugary. It kinda tastes like cream btw.

I've never tried it before or bought it from them, but this was what someone told me about their experience with venom. Only one person review:
"yeah I have.
1.) tastes like **** (I know it says no flavour.. but it does have a flavour, and it tastes horrible..) I suggest you either buy some of their flavouring additives, or flavour it yourself.... or learn to drink the whole thing none stop, then try to hold in the vomit.
2.) mixes like **** - in a shaker (which has the perforated breaker thing under the lid) and shaken really hard for a minute, it still would be lumpy.
Didn't try it in a blender.
hope that helps. "
