    Deadlift - Taking the Slack out of the Bar

    To those of you who "grip-n-rip", how do you deal with the flex of the barbell? do you pull a little before or just focus on flexing the triceps? I get worried i'll tear a bicep doing it if the bar bends too much.
    Short-Term Goals:
    Squat: 460
    Bench: 325
    Deadlift: 540

    Your supposed to flex the triceps. It reduces the risk of a bicep tear and it gives you a little extra leverage.

    I've never been able to 'grip n rip'

    my set up doesn't take long, but I definately have to set up or else my form will be a crap shoot.

    Pretty self explanatory really, if your triceps are flexed, your biceps aren't - Useful cue if you're prone to slightly flexing your underhand grip.

    This ^ I tried grip-n-rip before and I didn't like it. If I set up first I have a much more stable pull.
