    Indoor vs. Outdoor HIIT

    Which do you prefer?
These are my pro's/con's list for each one and if anyone could help me with the cons it would be greatly appreciated!!

    Indoor Pros:
-This might sound silly and I don't do this intentionally, but I think I work harder when people are watching (at the gym)

    Indoor Cons:
-It seems that I spend a lot of time alternating from walking to sprinting (going from 3 mph to 13 mph takes ~20 seconds on its own)

    Outdoor Pros:
-Can alternate between sprinting and walking without the 'in-between' jog I have to do on the treadmill

    Outdoor Cons:
    -Seems to take longer
-I feel very uncomfortable when people walk by staring at me haha
-It's sooo hot out that by the time my 20 minutes is up I usually have to sit down for a bit or I'll pass out on my walk home (it's just behind my house but still!)

I feel the same, my pros and cons are very similar to yours, overall I like indoors... I tend to push myself harder, and I can't shake that.... fat person "I'm jiggly and people are watching me" feeling when I run outdoors... though I do it anyway to switch things ups.

I generally preferred to do it outdoors, as the “balls-out” sprint portion was indeed such, and although not a constant speed (I’m sure I slowed down towards the end of any given interval if it were long enough), I generally felt I exerted myself better. Most indoor machines are machine-paced vs. user paced, and the sprint portion never feels like a real sprint. While some machines are user-paced, like the elliptical, I never got much into the elliptical. And if I were biking, I’d much rather bike on a real bike vs. stationary. Covering real distance fast is kind of self-motivating and easier to work harder.

That said, yes, outdoor sprint intervals can make one very self-conscious esp. when doing them on the street/neighborhood (think people must be wondering WTF?). And can be dangerous too, if you trip on a curb or whatever, not to mention higher-impact. After a few close calls I started going to the nearby HS track for weekend HIIT.
Way more Xtreme Fitbitter than MissLadyJ or kureransu

Indoor's is fine, especially if you just get a mad treadmill for home, speaker system and use your laptop. set it all up and you can watch TV, Movies, while working out listen to your music blasting at your own preferred level...

Sure it sucks with HIIT cause of the amount of time it takes to change over, but if you do 2 minute walk and 1 minute sprint.. it works out pretty good...
