In real life when the "tough guy" gets taken down effortlessly, the remaining guys are both hesitant and nervous to meet the same fate, unless they are trained fighters. Of course then they would have likely just been the first guy(s) taken out.

Good point, but I'm reminded, with some amusement, of those chop-socky movies where the bad guys come at Bruce Lee or someone similar... ONE AT A TIME!

First let me just say my wife was stating that because when we were younger a guy hit her and I went to the park and beat his ass in front of all his boys in his neighborhood, just wanted to make that clear

As for your question, it really depends on the hearts of the other guys, not necessarily their fighting skills. If you came accross 2,3 4 individuals and they all have it in them to react, than more than likely you are sh!t out of luck and you will get a beat down and possibly worse.

But if you came across some wanna-be-tough guys and you start putting it on one of them,seriously, more than likely the rest will stand and do nothing.

Ah, well stated! There's always a psychological element to the scenario, too!

Just got back from watching this movie with my wife, we both enjoyed it a lot. The scene on the dock was cool as all hell, but I really loved Terry Crews with that badass gun near the end.....I so want one of those

I don't want to turn this into a "real life fighting experience" thread, but just wanted to tell ya that getting jumped, or jumping someone becomes more and more difficult the more people are there.

More damage is normally done with 3 guys tops, because each one can get in the most damaging/serious hit at the same time. Anything over 3 and the hits become less effective because of the sheer cumbersome of it all. (trying to hit over a fuys shoulder, or around him etc etc) Now if it is a cooperative jump/assault, i.e I hit step back you hit step back and another guy hits, etc etc, that is the most damaging of all and usually ends up with the guy in a coma or dead.

Plus it had Saffron Burroughs in it. I'm sorry I'm not anti, but it is one of God's cruel jokes that a woman like that is a lesbian. Not objectifying, not predjudice, but.......but........

Just to make it clear about the 3-10 or so on one....Jackie Chan has explained it before along with other great martial arts directors..1-2 guys coming in on one guy is easier to film. It also helps to follow along with the fight scene.

Of course everyone ganging up would make more sense, but its not how its done on film.

Both BH and Mikieson make good points:

1. In real life there is the "bottle-neck" affect.

2. For dramatic/cinematic affect, it's easier to show a couple of guys swinging at the good guy instead of a gang tackle! If that happened we'd miss all those really cool hits, kicks and jumps!

Again much easier if less people are doing it, I know it sounds crazy but if you have ever been in this situation (on either side of the coin) you will know exactly what I mean.

Example, it would be easier for 3-4 guys to grab/take down one individual than it would be for 8-10 guys. It becomes difficult for all 8-10 guys to get their hands on the 1 guy at the same time.
