The few times I used a disposable razor they completely messed my face up. I would suggest getting a different razor and trying a good shaving cream.

    Stop using razors then

I just use a beard trimmer for my whole face...leaves a nice manly rugged look.

You can pick one up at walmart for like 15 bucks

Traditional wet shaving will fix this.

I had the exact same thing using disposable 3 blade razors and plain Edge type shaving gel.

Now I have a double sided safety razor that weighs like 2 lbs and I use a mug and brush to lather up a traditional style shave cream.

Normally happens due to hairs growing backwards into the skin.

Number one tip is don't scratch!

    Other things you can do:
    1. make sure face is clean and hairs are soft.
Best way to soften hairs is with hot water, either use a hot cloth on your face for 1 min prior to shaving or do it directly after a shower. Shaving foam is pointless btw, unless you feel it helps don't bother with it, water is just as good. Personally I have a hand mirror and shave whilst I am in the shower.

    2. Always shave with the grain never against it.

    3. Disposable razors are not ideal, personally I find I get best results with a 3/4 blade razor, any more and the shave is too close any less and the razor pulls too much and causes irritation. Try a couple models out and see how you go.

If you do get spots, grow your beard for 4-5 days and make sure all the problem hairs are pulled away/out of the skin.

I used to get that sh|t bad. Never shaved because it got so bad, had to have some concrete for new job and shave everyday.

Answer for me: New sharp blades as older blades are rough as guts on your skin and make razor rash worse. Also what old mate said and use a post-shaving moisturiser. American Crew sell a good post shave cream. Can shave everyday now without rashing up.
Not here to impress you phaggots.

Yeah make sure you use lots of warm water to moist you skin and shaving gel for sensitive skin also dont rush. I think it doesent really matter if you use Gillette Mach Fusion 9000 or 2 bladed disposables.

People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually, from a nonlinear, nonsubjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff.

Maybe you should try a "butter shave"? Basically you use butter instead of shaving cream. Be very careful you don't drop any on the batheroom floor and slip though.

that happens when u shave against the gran. the sharper ur razor the better, there is less friction with a sharp razor then with a duller one so i would advise u to spend more money and get a better one. also if u want u can get one of them razors that have more blades, more surface area will help

All of these. It's a much better shave than you'd expect. There is a learning curve, but it only take a few weeks tops to get it down.

The key points of why most people that try it agree it's better:
    1. Single blade. None of that 3+ blade BS where the first dull blade cuts you, followed by all of the others. By design, a 3+ blade razor can easily give you bumps & ingrown hairs.
    2. Quality shaving cream applied by a brush. Moist, thick, luscious! The brush helps exfoliate the skin and prepare it to have a piece of metal dragged across it.
    3. Technique. Blade angle & blade pressure make a huge difference.
    4. You do multiple passes, not just one. Beard reduction is the name of the game. 1st pass with the grain, 2nd across the grain, and if you can take it a 3rd pass against the grain. You re-lather between each pass. The blade just glides effortlessly across your face after the 1st pass.

Had same problem for a long time. Here's the soln.

Get a electric shaver & use it first. Buy a phillips norelco or something. Nothing extremely xpensive or nething. Use it before the razor & foam. Once done with it then use foam & make sure u freakin massage foam for at least 3-4mins before using the razor. Do this & ull be good. I've figured out that the more u massage foam on skin the softer the hair get & easier & less irritated the skin after shave.

Also electric shaver before razor does the trick.

Make sure you shave with the grade. Unless your neck hair is as bad as mine and it grows in every direction. I shave in the shower. Give it about 5 minutes before I start. Make sure you get a nice hot water going so your pores open up better. Shaving cream and dont use too much force.

Afterwards I put Aquaphor on my neck if its irritated. This cream is the best stuff on earth for irritated skin, chaffing, etc.

It happen to me too, I heard it is good to take a warm shower before shaving, or putting wet hot paper towel for 5 min, and get a shaving cream with glycocine or something like that.. I will try it and see if it helps.

If you do get spots, grow your beard for 4-5 days and make sure all the problem hairs are pulled away/out of the skin.
this... i do the hot cloth (run it under hot water for a bit) but do use foam & really work it in (barbasol i find is the best, but smells funny)

    shave w/ grain very important.

as for razors, i use mach 3, but any sharp razor should do it. (if its blunt it sorta pulls hairs out causing ingrown hairs & irritation, same reason one should shave with the grain)
