alright so me and my friend were trying to figure out which positions are the most important and key for a balanced high school football team in order for consistent great play for most teams.
*NOTE when i say "strong" i mean which side is used more often for running, passing etc. based on your team and for defense, your opponents
offence
1. strong OT- whether left or right, you cannot go without a great blocker who can hook ends, and protect quarter backs, and be smart enough to read the outside defensive players
2. running back- you cant go without a good running back in HS, when the run game is what most HS teams use more than passing
3. QB- needs to run the team and pass while remaining poise. (reason not higher is because you can still have a sucky QB who can just hand the ball off)
Defense
1. strong DE- supply's pressure to the QB in pass game and can turn the run game inside
2. Safety- needs to be smart.... if a WR gets passed him....you're done
3. strong LB- provides consistent tackles, pass coverage, and extra pressure on a blitz
add your thoughts and explanation... really curious to see what other think

I play nine man football so here is my input!!! haha.
Offense
1. Center-to make the block on the MLB. (I play MLB and whenever there is a really good run blocking center, our rush defense gets hurt...sometimes )
2. RB- to run up a hole, just needs to not be a pussy RB
3. QB- Because he is basically an RB who can throw decent.
Defense-
MLB- Plug middle holes
OLB- Plug outside holes
DE- Rush QB and keep contain on pitchesM.S. Exercise Physiology - Powerlifter - Strength and Conditioning Coach - Personal Trainer

This is the order I think it's in for my team
Offense
1. Left Tackle- protects QB's blindside, blocks OLB or CB on screens
2. Quarterback- Gotta have a good QB in the spread
3. X Receiver- #1 target, gets lots of screens
Defense-
1. Mike LB- quarterback of the defense, gotta be fearless
2. Strongside DE (me!)- push run inside to LBs, rush QB
3. Free Safety- they patrol the field and make sure everything is containedAut viam inveniam aut faciam

I have to say,
Gaurd (my team pulls a lot most of the time the gaurd is the lead blocker so without a good one your screwed.)
QB (without a strong QB to make decisions and take charge you may noy have a team)
WR (in HS not all recievers are good, to have one that can go up and get it is a huge advantage)
Reason I didn't say RB is in high school if you have glood blocking anyone can run the ball well.
On defense I feel all 11 players or needed just as much as one person. They need to be untied, but if I had to pick it would be..
Tackle if you play a 3-4 Defense
MLB every team needs one
Saftey without someone smart to help those corners you have a chance to lose all those close ones.

Definately guards on offense.. You cannot pads without good running and you can not run if u don't have guards who can pull and hit. Period.
Then QB because if u don't have a qb that can throw or call the right plays then you hve nothing. Your only as good as you QB.
Then I would RB or fullback for the purpose of running the ball or making good blocks for an okay back you can make him good.
Defsive I would safely say #1 is MLB or some linebacker becuase they are the QBs of the defense and the moral/tone aetters of the defensive game play.
Next I would say d tackle/ noseguard to take up space for free running LBs
then shut down corners are important... But I feel after a strong LB who can lead and make big plays, eeryone else is bout tied on defense

Offensive Line and Defensive Line.
They make the other guys look good no matter how bad they are. If you have a good line, the "skilled" players will shine."Giving your best is more important than being the best."

offensive
all of the o line because without us the half back qb running back would get crushed by the D
defensive
nose tackle we take double and tripple teams and make a hole for the MLB to get throw
MLB the QB of the D without him the D is in trouble and he is the best player on the D
corners they have to keep up with the WR and make intersepions and tackles and return them for touchdowns
