After reviewing this thread and clicking links like crazy, I opted to go with NY Barbells. I'm located in Northern CT, so shipping was very reasonable. Someday I would love to get my hands on an Elitefts collegiate or a pimped out Texas Strength rack, but between the price itself and an average of $500 for shipping it's just too much. This is what I ended up with:
*TDS Basic Power Rack-1000 lb rating, 2" hole spacing, front pullup bar
*Commercial Flat Bench with dumbbell rack-1000 lb rated
*Removable Bolt-On 3 Position Band Pegs
*Oly Plate Weight Tree
Total=$667 shipped
I plan on bolted the rack down to both increase stability and free up a few inches of overhead space. I'll be sure to post a review of the rack and features once it's installed and been through a few brutal 5/3/1 training sessions.I LOVE to lift weights. I LOVE to drink beer. Its a nasty love triangle to be in. Badoot.

Hoist is a very reputable company that makes quality equipment. They are not known, however, for their racks. Rest assured, though, this is a well built rack. Unfortunately there really are no options that exist that you can add to this rack. Power Lift, Legend or Williams Strength, to name a few, have a great number of additional features that you can add.

is this the one you got? http://www.amazon.com/TDS-C-92563-W-...1204988&sr=1-1
I'm on the market for a good rack...I want to be 100% safe (or as close to 100% as i can get) doing squats alone. I want to be sure if I drop a few hundred pounds in any direction the thing isn't going to collapse or tip over.
Are their more choices for under ~ $700 (s/h included)?

i am looking for a SOLID rack and preferably one that has a pull-up bar, bars for dips and steps for calf raises would be nice... dips are most important b/c I cannot do that exercise ATM.

rrbb How could you leave out the powertec rack? It's $469 shipped on dumbbellbuddy.com.
http://dumbbellbuddy.com/powertec/po...rack_only.html
Includes dip bars and a pull up bar. Lots of people in this forum have a powertec rack. I just got mine a couple of weeks ago and I'm very happy with my purchase.

Somebody got a full Hammer Strength power rack here (I think on page 19 of this thread or something) and they said the MSRP was 2300$ so I'd venture a guess that the half rack is slightly below that.
Legend Fitness makes a very similar rack which goes for 1860$, the HS one will probably be similar: http://www.ironcompany.com/halfcagelegendfitness.aspx
Anyway Hammer Strength is awesome, its about as high end as you can go when it comes to racks.
But speaking of top end racks like that, does anyone know why Cybex is so ridiculously expensive?
For example they have this rack: http://www.gymcompany.co.uk/strength...half-rack.html
Features and looks pretty much exactly the same as the Hammer Strength one yet in the UK its retail price is about 5000£ or 8200$. I mean that is just ridiculous. How can they get away with such prices when equivalent racks are selling (even on the exact same site I got this quote from) for several times less? Or do they offer massive discounts when someone actually comes to them who's actually interested in buying something?Last edited by matjusm; 05-31-2011 at 04:30 AM.
Strength + Speed = Power
If you never fail, you aren't truly pushing yourself to the limit. If you never push yourself to the limit, how do you know what you're truly capable of?

Yup, they're done. Very good stuff though and highly thought of here by those that have them. I found one parabody rack a couple of years ago and was really impressed. Its similar to the look/feel of a Bodycraft, with some subtle differences.
For $300, you are getting a great deal and will be happy.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #4 ▪█─────█▪

First, it is the same basic rack available through Amazon as well.
Rack is short, but thats great because I have a low ceiling. Its real sturdy with the plates on the back but I do plan on anchoring it to the floor for added stability. Height is just enough for pullups, just to do standing presses on the outside. Spotter bars are wicked solid, band pegs are as well. The bench I also purchased is very solid and well built as well and the oly plate tree was the final touch to keep the whole area clean and organized. Overall, best money I ever spent on lifting equipment. I recommend NY Barbell to anyone. Unfortunately I'm unable to post pics as my post count is too low. SorryI LOVE to lift weights. I LOVE to drink beer. Its a nasty love triangle to be in. Badoot.

Dicks is good for promoting stuff that they can't even order. I was in a Dicks a few months back, they had a Marcy cage on the floor. However, it's not on their website and the clerks couldn't order it. I'm glad because I got my Powerline cage much cheaper.
from the ad image you displayed. Protocol is made by Ashley Collection Inc.
you might see if they have the info.
That cage looks OK, but it's probably crap.Goals:

I'd have to see a pic dude, I have no idea what you're talking about. Dip bar, crossmember, safety, or pullup bar....all come to mind as possibilities. Nothing on the rack I had made me pause to figure out what it was, so I'm at a loss.
Here is a pick of the one I flipped:

Thanks Keetman, I actually figured it out but forgot to post. It's the "hold down" bar for using the lat attachment.
I found another thread about the Parabody 843 and you can see the bar on floor on the right side of the rack in this pic:

Hello, kinda new to the whole thing, and just like to have some input on an aid I saw in my area (Ottawa Ontario).
Basically it is a Parabody 814 with no other attachments, an Olympic bar and 45lb, 35lb, 25lb, and 10lb plates are also included. According the aid it is in almost new condition.
The asking is $500 Canadian, just wondering what's the typical price for this package and what's a reasonable offer I should give.
Thanks.

Would someone with the new model Powertec WB PR11 please answer this. On their website it shows a black model that looks like holes are missing for bench pressing. The yellow pic on their site has holes all the way down as does all the other pics I am finding on the web. Do the insert holes on the new model stop short or don't they?

Excel File with Rack info
I found most of the knowledge I needed from this blog. So I decide to give something back. I have already picked up my rack and I will be positing its pictures soon. In the process of researching I used a very helpful excel file and I updated it with more information. I was not completely done and ended up buy a rack. I don’t want the work to go to waste so I am uploading it for you new guys. MAYBE SOMEONE MAY TAKE THE TIME AND FINISH THIS FILE AND UPLOAD IT AGAIN
