Underdosed compared to what? (Not sure where the OP cut and pasted from but caffeine is 50 mg per serving). How is 5 grams of essential amino acids underdosed?
This is an essential amino acid product that is designed to be taken throughout the day to support muscle recovery. Yes it has additional ingredients (beta-alanine, caffeine, antioxidants, etc.) but this is deliberate as this product is intended to be taken throughout the day - in addition to - not replacing - your current supps to support them and your recovery.
It was never intended to be a pre-workout energy product.
That's an entirely different category altogether.

I don't do samples.
That would be consumer@optimumnutrition.com

I just saw this in the store and am about to make an order tomorrow and am 50/50 between this and my usual Xtend.
I'm considering trying it out because my Xtend is about to end and this looks promising, but if there's going to be a test Jay can you get me on that instead?
I'll write a review either way seeing it's new. I wouldn't normally try stuff like this out for that reason alone but since it's from Optimum Nutrition it's the equivalent of not trusting Costco or something if I was to be skeptical...haha.Last edited by DerReise; 09-01-2010 at 08:17 PM.

I know that this thread is about a month old, but for those who are interested I had a chance to try Amino Energy and would say that it is a good product.
Other Amino / BCAA products that I have used:
- Xtend (Multiple sizes and flavors, at least 5 containers)
- Purple Wrath (90 serving container of Grape, sample packet of Lemonade)
- ON BCAA's (one container, unflavored)
- Infinite Labs BCAA's (one container, unflavored)
- Bulk BCAA's (two pounds, orange flavor and samples of grape)
- CytoSport Monster Amino (two containers, fruit sour flavor)
- Universal Nutrition BCAA stack (one container, grape flavor)
I will say that the original ON BCAA product tasted horrible, it was unflavored and extremely bitter; did not even mix well when added to other supplements such as pre-workout drinks. That is not the case with Amino Energy, in fact because it is instantized it mixes very well and the flavoring is good and also quite potent (I watered it down a little bit because I wanted to sip on the drink throughout the day).
It is a completely different product than Xtend; comparing the two would really not make sense.
For an EAA/Beta Alanine product Purple Wrath is a good option, but if you are looking for something for diet support that has a bit of caffeine and also tastes good then Amino Energy would be a great choice.

Wow, actually using a product before crapping all over it? What a novel concept. Good writeup, I have 2 bottles from the b1g1 free sale on another site last week, looking forward to trying it out. Some people may bash them, but every product I have tried from optimum has been a quality product so far.
