Buy nice clothes that fit, and don't try to be something you are not. You do not want to look silly.

If you are in shape, you will look good anything.

I am well aware of not being a total idiot by wearing a medium shirt when I should wear a large. But what are some good trendy companies that focus on this niche?

Men's Wearhouse, believe it or not. Their prices are reasonable, selections very good and good quality, and the best part is that they are generally experienced in fitting athletic and muscular men. They will tailor pants and even shirts to your liking. Of course it will cost a few $$ but the clothing prices are reasonable enough that the cost of the tailoring doesn't make the item all that much more than you'd pay in a specialty shop, if you can find one.

    You're kidding, right?

Is this the same Men's Warehouse that doesn't carry fitted shirts or suits with more than a 10" drop?

I never kid about those things.

What part of "...and the best part is that they are generally experienced in fitting athletic and muscular men. They will tailor pants and even shirts to your liking" was lost on you? By extrapolation if they'll tailor a shirt they'll tailor a jacket.

^This. Nothing looks better than a suit, and if you find a good salesman on the floor, he can help find the right shoulder-to-waist jackets for you. Those are harder to tailor than pants and shirts because of the lines. Sometimes you end up looking like an inverted sofa...and if the jacket has pin stripes, forget it. LOL

Whatever you do, don't do it like a guy I work with. He buys nice business suits that are a couple sizes too SMALL, buttons them up all the way, and struts around the office with a perpetual scowl on his face. I've never seen anything so tacky in my life (well okay maybe a few things more tacky). Shame I don't have pics, it's appalling how bad he looks. Bigger shame is that under that body tourniquet he probably has a good physique - swap out that suit for a decent fitting polo and it'd make all the difference in the world.

interesting..fashion and how clothes fit..I traveled to Europe late 90S..everything for men(young men fashion I guess) was tight fitting..shirts..and even some pants(like jeans)...now that sort of fashion is here in the US...I see tighter fitting t-shirts and jeans...fashion is a funny thing..in the USA..baggy clothes has been in style for the longest time...big baggy everything...and boxer shorts....the opposite of Europe..were even the sizes are different..a large shirt in Europe is either medium or small here...

so OP you want nice tight fitting clothes with style..try European clothing...GAlleries Laffayette in NYC for example...Prim temps in PAris...(Macy's style clothing stores) but Euro Style...

By the way...straight up: Perry Ellis. I have a lot of his clothes, dress and casual, and it looks great on someone with broad shoulders.

If you were a skinny manlet, I'd recommend the white wife-beater. Seems to be in fashion with the "look at me, I think I'm ripped because I have low bodyfat at 5' 7 130 pounds" crowd.

Seriously, a nice properly cut dress shirt is a great look. Classy without being too much.

Its all in the presentation brother. You can make a nice crisp shirt and a pair of pants from K Mart look good if you know how to present yourself. It does not need to be something crazy expensive. What ever you wear...wear it well.

    I suggest:

Terry-cotton rag top sweatshirt with large neck opening. Cut the arms off, and shorten it to expose midriff.
Baggy gym hot-pants. The more color and stripes the better!
    Vibram five-finger shoes.
Accessorize with Oakley mirrored shades, and, oh, can't go wrong with a bandana and 3/4 finger lifting gloves.

    Tuck, Tuck, Tuck....that shirt in.

Once my bodyweight gets below 200lbs I start tucking all my shirts in, to show off my waistline. Yeah, I know, even my T-shirts get tucked in.

So, for me, it is my polo type Golf shirt to show my arms, and a pair of nice shorts above the knees to show my legs.

I like this look for the casual thing.
