Any or all of these:
-Document my last set in my log
-Sip my BCAAs
-Walk to water fountain for a sip of water
-Grab paper towel from dispenser and wipe sweat from head and forehead
-Putting on straps (when needed)
-Only when hear growls and I'm resting: check out other peoples' form with their lifts
-Pace back and forth a little
-Stretch
-Stare at the floor
-Set my mind for the next set

I totally agree. The gym is my everyday zen. The only time of the day where I can do a little thinking and sort out the mess of stresses floating around my head. Leaving the gym with a good pump and a good sense of direction for the days challenges is what keeps me coming back!

usually look around and spot someone doing completely terrible form and have a good laugh
also drink some water
the other day i couldnt stop looking at this guy (or two guys) doing barbell curls, his mate was spotting him so hard that i wasnt sure whos set it even was, it looked pretty hillarious seeing them in sync throw their back up and end up like 40 degrees bent backwards while both pulling the bar towards themselves

Walk, sit, stretch, look through log, go to the water fountain, flick thru ipod looking for a good song to blast right before the next set, go for a walk to the cardio section to check out the talent.
And have a quiet laugh at the 14 year old kids doing bicep curls 2 inches from the mirror.Last edited by braden101; 08-12-2010 at 01:49 AM.

I do my entire workout in one big, giant superset. No rest. In and out in 15 minutes.

--The proper plural form of the Latin adjective biceps is bicipites, a form not in general English use. Instead, biceps is used in both singular and plural (i.e., when referring to both arms). The form bicep [sic], although common even in professional contexts, is considered incorrect. (from Wikipedia)

-I check my notebook to see what weight I'm going to be lifting for my next set (Madcows 5x5)./ Add weight as needed.
-If not many people are in the gym I pace around aimlessly.
-I walk to the water fountain and grab a sip of water. (I bring a bottle of water but walking to the fountain gives me something to do).
- I mire chicks booties out of the corner of my eye or by using mirrors. (Entire gym surrounded by mirrors on the wall)
- I watch tv. Near the ceiling my gym has a flat-screen every few feet and they are all on different channels so there is always something interesting to watch.
- I pick what song I'm going to listen to next.
- I observe whats going on in the gym without appearing to actually be watching anyone.

it depends on where I am at if I am focused I am walking back and forth thinking about the next set. And then when not that focused I am thinking about all the stuff going on in my life and that only happens once in a while because the gym is my release for me. I get centered and I am in control of my workout and that feels great!
