Am I doing too much cardio
Hello all, i am new to these forums, feel free to check out my blog.. and sorry my shift key is broken and i don't feel like hitting caps lock to make one capital letter. so anyways this is my question, i work out hard for a hour to and hour and a half before i do my cardio. it consist of 10 min at 6-7mph for 5 to 10 min depending on how i feel. then i do 10 min in a lap pool without touching bottom. then 5 mins steam room, and sauna, followed by 5-10 in the jacuzzi. my goal now is to gain weight but i don't want to be a big bulky guy, i am 5'10 and 178 atm. i want to get up to atleat 200 or 205 within 6 to 9 months. should i slow down, do less, or what. I would like to keep my speed and stuff up, basicly sporty build i guess. i use to be a fullback and middle linebacker back in highschool and i loved how bad ass i felt, so please give any advice you have, it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm a kind of guy that looses weight easily, and gains muscle easily, BUT I gain fat really easily to.
So watch your diet especially. Once the diets on lock, make sure you don't over do your cardio.
For me I do 3 days a week of cardio--only 10min on my workout days.
5 min before I lift (as a warmup) and 5 min after I life (as a cooldown) and this helps to keep my fat levels under control when bulking up.

not near enough calories to gain weight you need at least 3000 to 3200 depending on your MR

Eggs
Dead Animals
Nuts/Nut Butters
Combined with non-sugar carbs and hard workouts WILL put on weight

are you gaining weight?
are your lifts going up?
by the sounds of it your cardio is fine, if anything you could do more. but its better if you keep your cardio on alternate days to your weights or atleast make sure to get in some protein after your weights before your cardio and then some more after.

as far as fat goes 5min before and after isnt going to do ****.
its good for a warmup and cool down but as for burning cals you should be doing a solid 20-30mins bare minimum.

ok thanks. i was continplating doing the cardio or not bc so many ppl talk about how hindering it can be on your workout efforts. i too am bulking for about the next month and a 1/2, but want to keep the fat gain to a minimum, so i feel this will help as long as its not proven to hinder gains.

When I bulk up, I workout 6 days a week (weight) and I do Cardio 3 times a week (Tuesday - Thursday 30 min bike at moderate-high intensity, Saturday hockey game). I don't take that much fat, and my weight goes up. Best of both worlds IMO
And 2000 is DEFINITLY not enough. I take around 4,500 just to give you an idea. Of course it depends of you MR as spider said.
Cheers!
