It seems totally unnecessary for raw lifting, I could see it being used at big multi-ply meets.

Yeah I don't think I would ever use it as I rather just have a trusty spotter and not have to spend all that money to use one or pay for a expensive gym to use it, but you are certainly correct about video number two!

When you let go, it inserts the pins. It sounds cool and would be ok for repetition work...but that thing is a lawsuit waiting to happen. This thing looks cool but isn't really practical IMO.
