Just got done watching Keltron's posting of a scene from "Back To School," featuring an interchange between himself and Rodney Dangerfield. Something in that interchange reminded me of the interchange between Jack Palance and Billy Crystal in "City Slickers." I don't know what, and the connection is probably pretty tenuous at best, but it got me to thinking about hometowns (I'm now into James Burkes' "Connections" territory). In any event, I'd like to propose a little personal mental game, if anyone is willing to play. Name what you consider your hometown, name one think you like about it, name one thing you dislike about it, and name one thing that you think outsiders think about it.
As I'm starting this off, and as I have a pretty easy one to make an example of, I'll do two: the first (Chicago) is my hometown, and the second is where I've spent the last 15+ years.
Chicago- good: Cubs and Bears
Bad: Government
Outsiders: Gangsters
Des Plaines- good:home of the 1st McD's framchise
Bad:Government
Outsiders: railroad crossings
Thread: R.I.P. Curly
