my beautiful wife
I have lost 150lb and ever since then my wife won't stop whining about how fat she is. She isn't fat at all but her thinking she is...well it is getting really annoying lol. I love telling her how great she looks but not when she is whining about her weight.. ahhhhhh. How can I get her to stop?

Since I have started losing weight people have said those types of things to me....I say either "if I can do it anyone can" or "if you are not happy with yourself do something about it" I just got the people around me to either join in the journey or find their own activity so they would stop worrying about what I am doing it helps
BTW great job!
If we were all the same life would be so boring!

Yeah I have tried to get her to join my gym, but she says she doesn't feel comfortable at gyms. IDK why because my gym has 5 locations and one with a female only section. I really want her to talk to the trainer too because I have no idea what woman do for workouts. I assume it is the same as a guy but not sure.
For the previous post..I also hate when ppl tell me I look to skinny now, I am at 17ish% BF so I know I am not too skinny lol. Why can't ppl just be happy..but back to the OP, it would be nice if she would start lifting or just be happy with herself, I am happy with how she looks.

I'm not sure you can get her to stop complaining...she'll get over it or do something about it in time. Just keep being supportive and tell her you love her and she's beautiful (like you are). I learned to stop saying things about the gym and such to my husband, it didn't go over well. Also, I think some of it is that she's trying to adjust to your new body and she needs to be assured that new body for husband doesn't mean new wife. Sorry I'm not much help but basically with my husband I just rode it out. When he became more comfortable with the fact that my changing body didn't mean that he had to change and that I had no expectations of him everything was fine. I love him just the way he is!

Unstoppable!
Agree with her lol.
That shut up a few of my friends!!! They complain, because they WANT you to reassure them that they are ok, even if they know or don't think they are. If you just say, 'ok...then do something about it', she'll probably stop
Then again. i'm a bit of an extremist. Maybe just invite her along to the gym here or there, or suggest a fun outdoor activity? if she WANTS to change, she will. Otherwise, she's just looking for attention...

This x229393.
There is nothing that annoys me more than the needy girl. She'll get more attention by looking hot than she will by being chubby and whining.
Maybe it would help to tell her that her whining is dragging you down and wearing you out. If she's rational (a lot of us tend not to be...at least not initially) she'll realize that she's annoying you greatly and either shut up or run around the block a few times a day to lose the weight.
- Damnit. I got fat again. Brb: picking up the pieces and burning my excuses. -

If she's not fat, then she just wants reassurance...which you give to her. Help her join a gym or relieve some wife duties so she can have a little extra time to workout or relax. She'll probably feel a lot better.

I know the feeling man. I'm in the same boat with my girl. She'll get on a health kick every now and then but really can't stick with anything and complains about her body.
I do my best to stay patient but after so long, I agree it can get irritating. I do my best to tell her she's beautiful, tell her I love her exactly how she is and tell her if she wants to change something then she should.
Also, leading by example seems to help motivate her and when she's working on her fitness, she doesn't complain about her body at all. I cook for both of us often and keep meals very clean. I'll go out and walk with her when she wants and I work out on my own often and just about always invite her.
I hope my experiences can give you some ideas but just keep loving her and I would definitely stay away from using the word "whine" with her. :P
p.s. Congrats on losing all that weight. Keep up the good work.

There may be a real reason she feels fat. Has she checked her body fat levels? Most of my life, I felt fat but knew I wasn't overweight. It's only since I started working towards lower bodyfat levels that I am not feeling so darned fat. That and dealing with bloating issues has been helpful: for me, giving up grains most of the time has been wonderful.

No, she doesn't check her BF%. I just want her to understand that I don't care if she is fat or skinny. Thank you for all the posts....i think she is gonna start coming to the gym with me which will be great. There are some classes she wants to take and she is gonna talk to a personal trainer about lifting. Hopefully the trainer doesn't put her on a circuit where she does 3 sets of a billion reps kind of deal.
