I got into every single place where I attended the interview. I had friends with better apps totally tank and not get in. Weird ****

This is what I hope to ride on. My stats will be "low". I'll probably finish up with a 3.6 c/s gpa. Shooting for 35+ mcat. But I'm awesome at social / interviews so we'll see.

America has something like 140+ medical schools. In Canada, I'd be surprised if we have more than 15

GPA and ECs obviously helped a ton for the other dude, 30 on MCAT is nothing to write home about. (no cocky, i wouldnt be satisfied with a 30)

no dude i get what you are saying- the best mcat score is the score that gets YOU in to the school of your choice.

I know all about the strict canadian system...it's a bitch and not really fair.

I knew some canadian apps who were struggling to get into schools there that were on par with an avg low tier US MD program

yeah there are a lot of low name medical schools in canada (eg. University of saskatchewan: cow town, nothing for miles, still pretty hard to get into)

but im hoping to get to one of the top med schools in canada (UBC, UToronto, McGill) or try my luck in the states (as an international )

so yes, it is unfair but what can you do

As far as GPA goes, a lot of Med Schools look at which school you are coming from too. I'll have around a 3.5 cum, but average med school applicants from my school was 3.44 last year. Science is hard as shiit at my school, I guess.

You have to absolutely love helping people, enjoy medicine/science in general and above all know **** wont be easy. If you want to do it for the reasons listed at the top, then I dont think you will have enough drive to finish.

good luck brah i took it in january. Don't freak out if (when) the test is much, much harder than the AAMC practice ones...all of the modern ones are. Ton's of people void when they shouldn't just b/c they are shocked by this and get flustered. Just remember at the back of your mind that the scoring scale works itself out, and you will score within your practice range...

I do want to help people and everything like that. But I also want to enjoy my life and get a decent income without going back to my family all depressed and stressed due to work. How do you see being a doctor as??

you make it as depressing and stressed as you want it to be. My cousin just got married (29 age) and hes in residency now. One of the happiest people around. Although he will be the first to admit there were some ****ty ass days.

I say, until you are 32ish (depending on what your are specializing in) life is difficult. After that, the usual stresses just like any other job I suppose. Plus as time goes on, the less you work the more you make as Dr.

Ofcourse, Im not a Dr so you can just brush off everything I say as broscience.

Loool. Doesn't matter where you graduate from in Canada. Schools are all relatively on par with each other to the point no one cares. Do not believe me? go look at the carms stats posted on the website. U of S even has one of the highest first choice match rates.
