ITT: Where are you staying in Vegas for the O
I am trying to figure out where to stay. I don't have tickets to the show but I plan on going to the Expo while I am there.
Even if you are not going, suggestions are welcomed for those that have Vegas experience.

Hey man! Washington reps for you!
I am looking for something decent and clean. The best of both world would be great, but really, something basic would do for me. I am leaning hard to the Sahara right now, but I know it is an older property, so I am not sure. Where have you stayed and what did you like the best and why?

have stayed at the sahara and found it to be perfect if you just need a bed to sleep in
since why when are you going to be spending much time in your bedroom when in vegas anyway

Flamingo is the worst of the Gold's in Vegas but if you have to be within walking distance then yeah it's the best option.

MGM. Its good to stay at a hotel that is right on the monorail. When you are returning from the expo you will have 50 lbs of crap to haul.

By worst do you actually mean the only real hardcore bodybuilding gym in town ?

no matter what anyone says, ask yourself this one question: how much time do I actually think I'll be in my room?
If you dont plan on being in your room for more than a few hour nap and shower then get the cheapest (though clean) place you can find. Seriously. Why waste your money on an upper end hotel when you're not going to be there? Just stay at the Orleans or even excalibur...
Personally I love the Monte Carlo and have stayed there a few times but then again I'm with the wifey so we spend A LOT of time in the room, lol.

Staying at the Orleans. Assumed it was where all the action was taking place, but apparently not. It's off the strip, but it's a huge hotel and very affordable. We're staying a week after the O as well, and hoping the Orleans won't be too crowded during the vacation part of our stay.

no by worst I meant the worst
The most hardcore of the Gold's in Vegas by far was the one on West Sahara Avenue. It sucks that it closed.

DING! DING! DING! We HAVE a Winnah! All the money you saved on your room you can use at the casino or the buffet... I think the cab ride from the orleans to the strip was only a few bucks, so you could certainly hang out there easily enough.

I will probably book it there today. The price is great and the highest-end rooms are still cheap.

sahara is a ****holl, dont stay there. Go mid strip like Bally's if you want decently priced and decently nice. Dont stay at imperial palace either, another craphole. Harrahs is pretty reasonable if you can find a deal, but its not much to talk about. You can also stay at excalibre cheap, but its cheap for a reason if you know what i mean.

The hotel itself is decent enough but you gotta watch yourself at night. Its right on the edge of a less than awesome area, lol.
