I know that dips are primarily for working out the triceps, but do they also work out other muscles? Examples: Chest, shoulders, biceps, forearms
Please let me know and please be specific as to which other muscle groups dips work out.
Thanks in advance!

Haha. I get what you mean now. You were talking about doing dips while facing your whole body to the ground.
I don't actually have a real place to do dips, so I use the wooden end of my bed that's lower than knee length to do dips. Therefore, my dips are more like the Iron Gym workout bar's rendition. However, I still get more of a workout using my bedpost because it's higher compared to the Iron Gym workout bar.
Try checking out the Iron Gym commercial if you still don't know what I mean.

I know Iron Gym dips aren't that effective. I was just using that as an example because I didn't know the correct terminology of what version of dips I was doing. Now, I know that I'm doing BENCH dips. I think my bottom bedpost is high enough for these. I personally think it's a good platform to use for dips.
How high do you think the platform should be?

Triceps (duh)
Chest (e.g Chest Dips)
Abs (Stabilising)
Forearms (Griping on tight)
A some other muscles, but to an extent way too minimal to name.
If I had to pick only 3 exercises to do for the rest of my life, they would be - Pull Ups, Dips, Squats (and all their variations e.g wide, narrow, palms outwards, palms inwards. leaning forward, single legged, fast, slow, weighted)Last edited by SonOfNoOne; 01-04-2014 at 10:33 PM. tension
depends where you put the tension, especially when you teach yourself to manually put tension on a certain muscle constantly you develop the uncanny ability to instantly put tension in that area
like special guest ben pakaulski on sixpack shortcuts says, your body puts tension where IT wants not where YOU want i.s just because you jump o a bench press doesn't automatically mean you are training the chest which can explain why i couldn't feel it there when i first wanted to TRY to get into fitness
but once you teach yourself it automatically recruits muscle fibres where ever you want, some bodybuilders have the gift to just tense wherever they want but most normal people don't, i can't believe this little tip works so well, that and with the best muscle building method is merely SHORTENING the muscle not going nuts with the the weight, i.e weight is just a tool and you shouldn't abuse it
