I know a lot of BBers eat it when they are preparing for a comp.
I never tried it but bought some, I am not a fan of seafood (except shrimp) but I have to say it tastes pretty damn good...
Im going to make this a staple of my diet now, what are the nutritional benefits of it?

first off, it aint seafood lol its a freshwater fish. 2nd, its low in fat, low in sodium, and fish in general is a very high quality of protein. really tightens you up! fast digestion as well.

Yeah, the way fish accumulate mercury is by eating other fish. Therefor the fish higher in the food chain (and that live the longest) will have the highest mercury levels. Tuna, swordfish, shark, and other big fish are high in mercury while fish at the bottom of the chain like tilapia, catfish, shrimp, and pollock are low in mercury.

its no better than any other fish. It is a lean meat source like most fish; it is popular simply because it is very cheap. pro BB's who spend a ****load on food want cheap solutions, so they buy bulk tilapia. People see this and think tilapia must be super awesome and it becomes popular for BB'ing. In reality the fish is nothing special. There are a hundred other fish you could eat in its place and it wouldn't make much difference other than the weight of your wallet.

Like most fish (I cant think of a lot that would be good for you 0.o) Its a solid eat! It taste really good and you can make rubs to put on it that is very simple and taste soooo good. It also is said to be not that fishy but I wouldn't know as I love my Sushi/Sashimi and can eat raw fish of any kind 24/7 =P
Edit: O its also on sale a lot in my main food shopping store so its nutritionally good for my bank!

Can anyone describe the taste? I've never had Talapia. I eat salmon and mahi mahi as far as fish go. I always see talapia on sale but I have some vague negative connotation with it for some reason. I may have just assumed it tasted bad b/c it was cheap somewhere along the way lol.

huh? I'm pretty sure I made it sound like exactly what I meant. I said fish at the top of the food chain have the highest levels of mercury and fish at the bottom of the food chain have the lowest levels of mercury.
And tilapia basically tastes like most other white fish. Cod, bass, halibut, catfish...all similar tasting. It's less meaty and more flakey than mahi mahi.
