Im in negotiations on purchasing a used BM lat machine with a 300 lb stack. It will be coming from a gym that is upgrading it's equipment. The place is 2 hrs away and I haven't seen a picture of this machine, but the other equipment looks nice. What sort of price would be acceptable/should I offer?
As an FYI, I currently have the older ptec lat machine which I would likely be selling. (purchased for $100 so should be able to profit a bit).
Any advice and info on the machine would be great.

Just heard back from the seller and he said $325. He also sent a picture which looks nice. Will post later.
There is NOT a low pulley. Does his change anything?

As you probably know BodyMasters is true commercial-grade equipment. Well-constructed in my opinion. I have a plate-loaded seated calf machine and two pro-style dumbbell racks in my home gym that were manufactured by BodyMasters (I also used to have a BodyMasters Smith Machine-which was a beast). I've had a chance to get the BodyMasters Lat Machine twice but I passed them up for various reasons. One was that I couldn't do low rows on them (you can do lat pulldowns and tricep pushdowns with the machine and maybe a few other things if can think of them). It's also quite big-I think it's at least 84" high and looked like a beast. Personally I have a Yukon one that allows me to do low rows (I don't think there's too many commercial-grade machines that allow you to do lat pulldowns and low rows...Life Fitness is the only company that comes to mind that has made one).
$325 sounds like an o.k. price-I think I could've gotten the ones I had seen for around $250 so you may want to ask what their best price is. If I had more space I would get a commercial-grade lat machine and another low-row one but you'll have to make that decision. For lat pulldowns the Bodymasters machine will be better than the Powertec one you have in terms of how "smooth" it feels.
If you do get it make sure you have a truck. I hope that helps.

Thanks for the response. I'm still debating as the drive will be approx. 5 hours roundtrip.
Obvious cons are the fact that it doesn't do low pulley work. However the thought of not having to load plates sounds so sexy. I wasn't concerned about the size of the machine from the picture, however you make it sound like it may not fit in with my garage gym. Height is not a concern however width and girth is.
Any other concerns assoicated with this machine and the asking price? $325 seems fair for a 300lb stack.
I've also attached a picture of a Bodymaster Leg Press hes offered at $650. Though I think it would be WAY to big for the space.
I would probably buy the lat pull and pass on the leg press.

Body Master is great quality and you will be happy with the lat pull. It is very nice having a stack vs plate loading. The leg press would be too large and would be a bear to move. I think the prices are fair, but not steals by any stretch.
Bodymaster's is A+ in my opinion for equipment. I've used just about everything they made before they were bought out a couple years ago. The gym at the last army base I was stationed at had a full set up from them. I bought a brand new seated calf from them because it was the most comfortable I've used and it will certainly last me forever.
The lat pulldown looks like it's in great shape, I'd measure your ceiling though, it's probably more in the realm of 90-94" tall if I had to guess (most commercial pulldowns are). I think 325 is totally a fair for a piece like that if it's in anywhere near the quality that it was when that pic was taken.
I agree with the other poster that the horizontal leg press should be a pass, unless you really like that kind of leg press for some reason. Way too big and way too limited in what it can do for you.

I'd ask the seller for the measurements of the machine. I remember the Lat machine being pretty big-larger than the Yukon one I have. Once you get those then you can figure if it will fit in the space you have. BodyMasters is out of business and I couldn't find their website...when I knew I was looking to buy stuff manufactured by them I looked at their now seemingly defunct website as they had the specs of everything they manufactured. The leg press looks huge-I'd hate to move that. BodyMasters is truly well-made stuff...if you get the lat pulldown you won't have to get another one (you'll have to get a low-row machine if you do a lot of low rows). Gook Luck.
i have the CM 240 lat (belt drive) and the CM 290 high low
both are excellent pieces.
commercial grade. very smooth.
set up to be wall mounted or mount back to back.
325 is a great price.
used refurbished is 1K+
cant find any price for new
dont have any pics so here's from a vendor
Thanks a lot for the info SUL! The lat machine you posted seems to be a bit different than this model (2004 edition) as its wall mounted, but still looks sexy.

I also have numerous Body Masters machines. Extremely sturdy and very smooth movements. I think the kevlar belts add to this. The belts are a little pricy when replacing, but for home use you will never wear them out. My seated row sits at 96" high. I had to place it below the attic access in the garage, as it would hit the roof otherwise.
One of my concerns is how the machine will fit in with the rest of my equipment at 8ft tall. My garage ceiling is 9ft 2in How does your seated row look in regards to the rest of your gym and the ceiling height?
Also, Do you have personal experience with this lat machine?
Its Bodymaster equipment, its in good shape, it has a 300lb stack (big +) and its only $325. If I knew where it was and was white/black ulph., it would be in my basement ;-). If you have the room, its a no brainer.

Alot of the Body Masters equipment I have is also tall. The cable crossover sits almost as tall as the seated row, and the smith machine is a monster as well. As was stated above, if it's in good condition you can't go wrong with that level of commercial equipment..

Lowblow...Out of curiosity could you post some pics of your bodymaster equipment set up in your gym?

I have a couple pics, but not sure how good they show everything. My cables are currently down for repairs(literally down). I decided to modify them so they have more than just a high and low setting.

Thanks a lot. What type of pulldown is that? It looks somewhat similar to the 212.
It's an Apex and not even in the same league as Body Masters in my opinion. Had I known this at the time of the auction, I would surely have bid on the Body Masters lat pulldown. I was sleeping when they auctioned it. Every single piece of Body Masters that I have is extremely smooth with it's movements. If there is any chance of someone else scooping you on the pulldown, I would go and grab it asap.

Heading there tomorrow afternoon to pick it up. Gym owner is holding it for me. Will post pics.
Finally picked the machine up today. The pulldown is VERY smooth, but the machine itself is going to use some cosmetic work. Looking for some advice...
Theres some minor rust/chips on the white paint. All my other equipment is Black/dark grey. How difficult would it be to paint the machine? If this is doable, any guidance, links, examples would help a lot.
The weight plates have some signs of rust/corrosion. Planning on trying to clean them up with some WD40. Any other suggestions?
The Bodymaster sticker is pretty torn up to where I'll likely just peel the rest off. How would it look to put some sticker letters on in their place?
