Bumping to current page for maximum exposure of death and destruction!
BENCH PRESS DAY
SUPPS:
PRE: Novem 1 pack
INTRA: Con-Cret 2 scoops
POST: ON Protein 2 scoops
LOCATION: Home gym
BODY WEIGHT: 167
WARMUP:
-Arm circles
-Cuban Press
CHEST:
DB Bench Press:
35s x 15
45s x 15
BB Bench Press:
*still deloading on this, did vids from diff angles to see if anything is uneven - it is!
45x12
75x10
105x10
135x8
145x8 (vid from front)
145x8 (vid from side)
145x7
125x10
145x8 set 1, ok I found my problem, rt arm is coming down unevenly, not as tucked, not as deep, must fix asap
Yes I realize my camera is crooked as fark, could not figure out why and tried for like 5min to fix that. But anyways my arms are not coming down exactly evenly. I'll continue to vid from the front on all sets and try to tuck that other arm better.
145x8 set 2, looks even as fark from this angle, weird
RC WORK:
Standing Y/T/Ls with hold:
5s for 15, 15, 15
7.5s for 15, 15, 15
10s for 11, 10, 12 brutal
Int. Band Rotations w/ hold (Red): 1x12
Ext. Band Rotations w/ hold (Red): 1x15
Alright, so something's up with my bench as far as my arms being uneven. First I'm gonna use a level on the floor to see if it's slanted at all and maybe the rack needs to be turned around. Then will have to video all sets from the front and it looks like I need to tuck that right arm more (which it looks fine from the side) or perhaps bring it a tad lower. I'll get a better video set up of it and see where exactly the problem is starting. This does explain why each side of my chest gets sore in a different spot though. Now I know and can fix it. (See people in LHOTP times didn't have video cameras so they'd just have to deal with benching unevenly for years and years. )
You mirin' my wild parrot shorts of peace?

Okay in the first vid I was all like, WTF are her arms not the same length. glad the camera is crooked! LOL! I can see what you are saying. There is a slight difference but not as bad as I was thinking from the second vid. I don't think I push up exactly evenly either. So I will be curious to see what you come up with to fix it. Nice shorts BTW!! Happy Monday!!

Geez you're strong. Nice bench! Watching you bench makes me wonder if I bench with my grip too wide. How would I know if I'm too wide-elbows too flared?
What's the black band you wear on your right forearm? Just curious
Also, got a back question amidst all this chest stuff....what's your take on various grips with the lat cable pulldown ie wide overhand vs shoulder width underhand in terms of what muscles get worked and how well? Wide grip for back width and underhand for mid back thickness?

i hope you can sort the benching issue. i thought it was maybe a weird camera angle for the first id. couldnt tell. and i am not bench savvy, so... there you go.
but i love your benching!! strong work, hobbes. very strong.
and the shorts are cool as fark. are they stretchy?

Hahaha, FLEX is not a fan of dat Hollywood Undead.
They are the brother of the wild snorkel shorts of peace, they have many different styles.
Ahhhh that's what I thought too at first! Lol yeah it is slight, but significant enough to where it starts to really bother me when I bench in the 160s-170s. Well I'll level the floor first to see what's up there, it's most likely due to my previous shoulder injury, but anyways I'll move the power rack back and get a good view and make sure I watch all sets back and mentally force myself to keep my arms even.
Thanks! I've never seen your bench but I bench with a closer grip than like 99.9% of everyone, you can safely go many inches further out. Post a vid, wide grip makes little difference if you're not dealing with injuries, you can still tuck your elbows while doing it.

Overhand + moderate grip = more rear delts, some lats
Underhand + moderate grip = more biceps
You'll get more out of body weight pull ups and chin ups IMO, I don't do lat pulldowns at all.
Yeah there's a definite problem, at least I know where I'm getting horn-swaggled now. My right pec minor is taking a beating. If I'm lacking ROM on my right side then I'll have to compensate by limiting the left, clearly I have enough mobility to touch bar to chest so I should be fine.
but i love your benching!! strong work, hobbes. very strong.

Rest Day today, just eating and cooking so more eating can ensue. Tooth is not doing well, have an apt for Sat. Planning on lifting tomorrow, not sure what yet, weights most likely.

^^^OMG is that a real book?! Lol my poor kittehs would give me that "oh nooo don't take me to the V-E-T" look and cry. Sometimes I get really psyched up after a workout in the home gym and will hold a kitteh up in victory and do the MUFASSA!!! They don't care for that too much.

LMAO, oh Amazon you have it all!
Speaking of Amazon which one of you United Kingdom jackweeds stole my credit card? Semi-srs, got a fraudulent charge from London and the bank notified me the same day, talked to a person in like 2min, they're pretty good. But now they have to close that card and ship me a new one FUUUUUUU!!! BRB contacting my gym, utility companies, Ebay, PayPal, turnpike, Amazon subscriptions, all the online websites I have it saved on, and all the food ordering sites I have it on.
London you suck, yes that is a declaration of RAGE!

K, thx. I'm following a program that calls for a row (3-4 x 6-8) and a pulldown (2-3 x 10-12) so I chose an underhand cable row and an underhand pulldown. In hindsight I shoulda made one a wider grip movement. I've also got parallel grip chin ups in there (3-4 x 6-8). Does the grip change/emphasis work the same way for a horizontal pull as it does a vertical pull?
I love how the speakers are pointed RIGHT at you while you squat so that the music hits you loud in the face. Good tuneLast edited by schnauzers; 08-07-2013 at 04:15 AM.
