I used to confuse fast music as good music. But when you're building up a night with a crowd, you want them there all the way to the last track. playing huge tune after huge tune after huge tune is, i guess energetic, but you begin to realize it is, in a way, monotonous. Oakenfold used to play trance but built his sets over hours as a resident at Cream and later on at Home in London. even TIESTO played this way. But now i guess it's acceptable to just play massive tune after massive tune.
Here's ASOT OOO

02. Utah Saints - Lost Vagueness (Oliver Lieb Remix)
03. Orion - See Me Here (Darren Tate Mix)

05. Transa - Kinetic
06. Natural Born Grooves - Kickback (TDR Remix)
07. Armin van Buuren pres. Perpetuous Dreamer - The Sound Of Goodbye (Above & Beyond Remix)
08. Airwave - Mysteries Of Life

Hooligan - "Hear You Now" (white label)
Planet Funk - "Inside All The People [Deep Dish Instrumental Mix]" (Virgin)
Marc Kelso - "Half Lit Wood" (white label)
X-Press 2 - "Smoke Machine" (Skint)
Cass & Slide - "Glad I Ate Her" (Fire)
Vaiio - "Rapture" (MOS)
Solicitous - "Furthermost" (Warner)
Chiller Twist - "Strings Unlimited" (white label)
Infennal Machine - "Realistic" (white label)
Tiesto & Junkie XL - "Obsession" (Black Hole)
Midfield General - "Coatnoise [Dave Clarke Mix]" (Skint)
DJ Tiesto - "Lethal Industry" (white label)
Binary Finary - "Niterider [Ca-Lo's Tribal Mix]" (Five AM)
Windsider - "Hidden Flight" (white label)
DJ Tiesto - "Flight 643" (VC Recordings)
Katana - "Fancy Fair" (white label)
Toneking - "Pneu [Housetrap Mix]" (white label)
Wheed Baskin - "Castle Rock" (white label)
DJ Tiesto - "Urban Train" (VC Recordings)
Ivan - "Redseal" (Intensive)
Max Grathan - "Sepia" (white label)
I'm looking at this, and it's just mind-blowing to think he was playing ridiculously awesome. With the exception to the Smoke Machine track (which I feel doesn't fit the flow of the mix - meh good song wrong mix really), i can't, and have not, found a better Mix from this guy.
(edit; i'm excluding his compilations. Magik 7: Los Angeles is to me his magnum opus)Last edited by Hagakure24; 07-22-2010 at 10:30 PM.

arguing with a socialist is like arguing with a religious zealot. it's what comes from having a more feminine, emotional mind, rather than a masculine rational mind IMO.

thanks brah, big thanks. no idea what it was like back then, just got into EDM/raves within the past year. i do love some of their old stuff though no doubt, i will listen to these. i love older tiesto songs and i really love cosmic gate, guess its not necessarily "old" but their sets from 2007 are amazing, way more hardcore

(criminally underrated song)
this is a monumental track. I just love the way it builds and builds. Just like Armin's 'Blue Fear'.
