    The pump may be better from legpress but it doesnt build muscle nearly as well as squats.

    Why not do both, heavy squats front/back then legs press. throw in a few curls and lunges/extensions

    have trouble walking propely the next day hah

    I like to do ATG back squats because it feels like I'm working my whole lower body with one exercise.

    It's just simpler to me.

    edit: I also do calf raises.

    i dont know the obsession with miscers and squats or deadlifts.

    there is this belief perpetuated on the misc that if you dont do squats and deadlifts you wont get huge, coz "squats = more testosterone".

    here is a fellow miscer LudiWithKnives

    here is him squatting 330lb



    what a huge dude

    he doesnt even look like he works out

    here is him deadlifting 335lb for 6reps



    in his video he makes fun of some guy, "curling for the girls"....... when infact this guy LudiWithKnives should do some curls, to get some biceps bigger than the 11inch ones he is sporting atm


    so there squatting and deadlifting makes no difference just look at LudiWithKnives aka bevan the asian....

    here is one of him reaching a pb with badform on deadlift around 375lb



    and squating for reps



    word of advice bevan, do some god damn isolation excercises

    Squats are great just for health in general, precisely because they recruit the glutes, hams, hip flexors, etc. If someone overdevelops the quads (from leg-pressing, leg extensions, etc) it can often to muscle imbalance and joint pain/damage. Squats help prevent this.

    Back squats are pretty much all I do for legs. And my legs are huge, just saying. Although I have to agree about front squats being superior. OP, you ever considered high rep squats?

    Squats are awesome doing them close stance with the torso upright and deep is the only exercise that FUBAR's my quads.

    They are by no means essential for body building however.

    I personally don't think the risk reward payoff of squats is enough to make me do them. I already have a wide frame genetically I have no need for a bigger core this is the last thing I want ima stick with leg press.
