Conclusion:
Whats up Family!!
Well who would have thought 16 weeks would go by so fast. I must say that this has been a huge learning experience. You never really get an idea of what you can do until you actually try. While I may not have reached the level i was hoping for, I have seen changes and a slew of improvements, so that being said i have no regrets. From this point I'll build on what i have gained, and will be using what i learned, that being what i did right, and what i totally missed the boat on.
Mistakes:
I definately underestimated my metabolism. "You're not 20yrs old any more Johnny". I went from being able to eat anything and lose weight, to having to do hrs of cardio just to shed one pound. To properly lose body fat, not everything you read about that works for others is going to work for you. I made the mistake of waiting too damn long to try and start shedding BF. When i did start my cut down, there was significant change at first, but then i kinda plataued, and that kinda put me in a tail spin. I was expecting to see the BF drop week by week, but it wasn't happening. I panicked a little bit before changing routines. But in that same moment there were many stressful events compounding one another. Pregnant wife on bed rest, downsizing at the office, etc. To say I was actaully contemplating dropping out would be an understatement. My hand was hovering over the moust getting ready to send Simpy an email notification. But then I thought about it. I had only a few weeks left to go, why quit now. I was better off finishing it out, and taking what I learned and making good use out of it. Life doesn't always follow the plans in which you have outlined. I guess thats where the phrase lifes a bitch comes from. I'm happy that I stuck it out, and I am definately looking forward to the next one.
Achievements:
For the first time in my life i noticed striations and improved vascularity in my shoulders, and upper chest. I fought the rule that you have to lift light when training to cut up. The concept never made any sense to me. So I continued to lift as heavy as possible all the way through to the end. In the process, my chestis fuller, my back is thicker, my legs are stronger, and my arms look beefier. I've become an addict to volume training, but with a good amount of weight. Even if the reps call for 12-15 i push it to the brink with the heavy stuff. Its not for everyone, but it works for me. Since working with my new partner, I've been able to push myself to new limits. We push each other. Its this new outlook that lead me to believe that I need a trainer. In the short amount of time I've learned tons from my partner. I know his trainer, and I know he would bemore than willing to train me. Its just a matter of when I can make the time.
80/20. Thats the ratio that is now imbedded in my mind. Bodybuilding is 80% diet, and 20% weight training. I love to eat. I'll eat anything my wife or family puts in front of me, and as you can guess, is not always a good thing. In my next contest, I must remain diligent in my diet. I know now that I am one that cannot take a day off from dieting. I am so very impressed with everyone that has made incrdible changes in their physique. You all look amazing, and are truly inspiring.
I'd like to thank Double T Sports, for putting this contest together. You guys provided tons of support man. Simpy, Fitnessman, PatorPritch, ConradCrow, etc....(I know i'm leaving some people out but thats its own blog) you guys kept up the positive energy. In case you were wondering it really helps in many ways. Many can attest that there are days when the thought of the gym just make you sick to your stomach. But it gets done because you want to be the best. So thanks again.
Thanks to everyone that took the time to come by and offer words of encouragement. See you next time.
Peace!Last edited by Lex29us; 05-10-2011 at 10:12 AM.
