    My fellow Canadians..

Where the hell did you buy your equipment that wasn't totally overpriced?!

I went by two play it again sports and both were selling USED olympics weights @ $1 per pound. The hex weights (USED...) were over $1 per pound. The RUBBER WEIGHTS were $2 per pound.

I found a new 300# set at a store for $300 and thought that was too much. I GUESS I WAS WRONG!

I've been browsing craigslist/kijiji but haven't found any deals yet. I moved here when I was 21 from the US.. my parents still live there. I think I'm going to have them pick up stuff there and drive it up next time they come. Hell, I might make a day trip and save myself a ****ton of money.

yes. Its 30-40 mins from where I live. Usually I would go there to buy 45's and heavier dumbbells, if its available. Where in Canada do you live?

treadmillfactory.ca has good prices on new weights. If you live near Toronto or Kingston, they have locations there. FitnessDepot also has decent prices. Depends on what area you are in, but in Ontario those are the best places I've found.

$1 per pound for olympic weights isn't that bad.

You'll see a deal once in awhile, but for the most part that's the going rate.

I got all me weight for .50/lb or cheaper off vancouver CL. There great deals on there every day, as long as your not in a small town that'd be your best bet.

For new equipment (not plates!), I go to treadmillfactory. I think they have a 300 lb Olympic set with bar for $260???

For Olympic plates, I go to Boomerang Fitness...it's owned by Fitness Depot and mostly sells used stuff, but I get new grey powdercoated Olympic plates there for about $0.90/lb.

Treadmill Factory is a great place to buy new equipment, but weights I would try Cl even though in there Toronto area there is never nothing, but you could also try FITNESS SOURCE or FITNESS DEPOT

I live in Ottawa and got my stuff used off Kijiji/UsedOttawa/Craigslist.

For a new 300 lbs set, this is pretty much the cheapest I've seen:

If you keep your eyes open and be patient, you will eventually find some super deals...but it's hard to be patience when you have no equipment!

I saw that one too. I'm thinking about grabbing:

    http://www.treadmillfactory.ca/p-865...eight-set.html

    http://www.treadmillfactory.ca/p-352...ower-rack.html

I'll just need to grab a bench (I want something rated at least 600 lbs) and some olympic dumbbells. It's amazing that these plates are cheaper than the used stores I went to....
