I know citrus fruits such as grapefruits, limes, lemons have some fat stripping properties, or so they have been noted as having.

I tend to throw a grapefruit or lemon into my shakes daily, nowt wrong with extra fruit.

And if you think it's too bitter / tart to have straight then don't see whats wrong diluting it with the healthiest liquid on earth

The addition of lemon in your water (over time mind you) can cause kidney stones. No back up here, just what the doc told me after pissing 2 of them. i used to drink lots of water with lemon.

Not sure about this one. Lemon juice being acidic would actually dissolve kidney stones, composed of CaCo3 (tho not sure that a squeeze of lemon juice would really have any effect). I had a kidney stone in high school, and the doctor told me to avoid carbonated beverages, and to drink lots of water. If a bit of lemon juice helps the OP to drink more water, then I say do it.

Please explain to me how Lemon is acidic?

Lemon is alkaline, it is good in your water to manage your body's PH.

Before I learned about PH levels I had heartburn every single day and took pills for it. Now not pills, lost a ton of weight and gained a ton of muscle. Take it for what it;s worth.

I heard a bodybuilder say he uses cayenne pepper, lemon juice, and warm water every morning first thing in the am.

Supposedly he said that was his secret to a clean liver which in turn drives his metabolism / fat burning.

I drink that concoction every once in a while. I know cayenne pepper has it's own benefits as does lemon juice so can't hurt.

Lemon juice on it's own is acidic. It turns alkaline while being metabolized in your system.

    benefits of lemon water

I love to put lemon in my water! it's packed with vitamins, and believe it or not, lemon is alkalizing, so it's really great for keeping you balanced.

It may have some small benefits, but its not life-changing.

the biggest benefit is changing the flavor from plain water...

I like drinking diet-green tea (0 cal), as well as adding lemon to my water in order to not get bored with just the constant plain water taste.

They never really can know for sure what caused kidney stones just guesses. Two friends had them in their 20s too. The one did clean up his diet and hasnt had them since. The other didnt really clean up his diet but also hasnt had them since. It kind of sucks that there is no real way to predict what will cause them. Some people are just more susceptible.

    http://www.belmarrahealth.com/10-health-benefits-of-drinking-lime-juice/

Same here @joelash302 haha............ Lime or lemon or whatever is one of the very few fruits with so many benefits. There are things in your body other than the digestive system, it is beneficial for many body processes.

As for digestive aid, The moment you smell lime, your mouth waters because its irresistible smell triggers a response and saliva floods your mouth even before you taste it. And as you know, saliva is an important aid in digestion. But that’s not all. The natural acidity in lime helps in the breakdown of the macro molecules of the food. The flavonoids help as well. These compounds found in the fragrant lime oils stimulate the digestive system and increase secretion of digestive juices, bile and acids. This flood of flavonoids also stimulate the muscles that help the food go down the intestine. In fact, lime is such an important digestive aid that most restaurants in India have lime pickle as a standard feature on the table along with salt and pepper.
