Got 405x3 pretty easily today. And it was my 6th set of squats. I've also had knee problems for the past 14 months. Can only imagine where I'd be if I never had any problems and didn't have to completely stop squats for 6 months. Getting back up there though.

really, really not trying to be a d!ck here man. Your first squat was good and hit parallel, but the other two you were a little high.
I myself went back and restarted squatting from 225 because I noticed that around 365 I started getting higher and not going below parallel. So I'm not trying to say I'm some squat pro, just looking out for a fellow squatterCurrent (as of 11/2014):

In on this thread.
5 plate squat is my primary goal over the coming months (years?).
Current PR is 440lbs from March although most I've hit recently is 405 at a lower bodyweight.
Will be max testing on Saturday with vids and take it from there.Best Lifts:

Well, it says here I should post if I even think of squatting, so I even though I'm a total beginner compared to you guys, i'm gonna post.
I'm currently lifting 66 lb/30 kg. I'm from Venezuela so in here we count as kg which isn't pretty helpful since the smaller plate is 11 lb.
I'm gonna try 88 next week. Today i'm lifting so I'll update.
I'm currently doing the starting strength's routine and this is my second week (I started on Monday July 21) although I haven't been able to learn properly all the workouts (power clean and press). I was wondering if there is a place in this forum where I can post pics, weight, height, etc and get decent feedback about what I should be doing because I have some doubts. First: i'm not sure if i'm a "skinny fat" or not, second: I think I have a mild case of Gynecomastia though I'm not sure, third: I'm thinking if it'll be wise to do a willy+test cycle more ahead or now (?) or ever (?).

Everyone starts somewhere and you should see some pretty rapid progress if you are doing starting strength. Your next step would be to make sure your nutrition is solid.
A good starting point is to read the sticky threads within each forum. Most of your questions can be answered there.
BTW, it's against forum rules to talk about what you mentioned in your last sentence.Best Lifts:

Yes, I see that now, I read around the forum, I don't have time to read ALL of all the stickers of all the forums though but I read a lot.
I lifted today, still 30 kg/66.1 lb. I'm feeling a little bit of pain in my knee when I squat and I feel a pinch in the side of my hip. Is all this normal?
Thanks for the feedback Arturo, I'm trying to eat at least 2500 calories a day and I'll try the gallon of whole milk a day as explained in the book, I'm currently at 63 kg/138.8 lb and 5 ft 7'7 so I guess I should bulk a lot (?) Should I be eating more than that?

As your new to lifting, you're probably not as flexible as you should be and you'll be getting used to the squatting form as well.
Look up Limber 11 on YouTube to increase your mobility. I do this before every training session and used to do the hip stretches every rest day as well. It'll take a few weeks to feel a difference. For anything specific, I'll search for the specific body part on Kelly Starett's YouTube channel.
Also, when you feel your squat form is good, record it from the side and watch it for yourself. If you still think it's good, post it here on the powerlifting forum. They generally give good advice and will pick up any obvious flaws in your technique.
For your diet, that should be enough but I'm no expert. You should weigh yourself every morning before eating or drinking to make sure you're gaining. You don't need to gain any more than 0.5kg per week. Any more than this will just be fat that you'll have to lose eventually. Nutrition forum is a good source of info for this.
Good luck with the squatting and keep me updated with your PRs in this thread!!Best Lifts:

415lbs at 0:58 is the heaviest I've lifted for a few months.
Attempted at PR with 445lbs at 01:30 but spotter touched me on the way up. May or may not have had it it my own but gave me confidence for when I try it again.

Probably already been asked, but is this restricted to back squats? Are front squats allowed?

In on this thread. I hit a 200kg / 440lb squat earlier this year but a few lower back injuries have held me back. Ive also swapped to a high bar squat, which seems to take about 10-15kg off my lift, but I still hope to hit 5 plates this year. I'll try and get some footage up from my next squat workout.

Hoping to hit 5 plates by my birthday, May 1. Current PR is 445 in wraps, 420x1 in sleeves (though that was a while ago after 3 working sets, I'd assume I'm around 435 now).
Bench Press - 225x18 // 275x8 // 330x1
Squat - 385x7 // 445x1
Overhead Press - 135x20 // 225x1
Deadlift - 385x11

I remember seeing this post what seems like ages ago and all I remember thinking at that time is what a pipe dream but a fun goal to shoot for one day. Would have posted this before but I really took a break from bb.com
Got this goal at 21 yrs & ~188lbs before I ran into back/hip problems which have led me being unable to squat/deadlift for around 7-8 months. Started my lifting journey as a 125-130lb at almost 17 years old who was able to squat around 115lbs coming off a knee injury so pretty much anything is possible.
I wasn't going to settle for 495 because I knew those extra 5 lbs would always bother me because lets be honest 495 is almost 500 anyway. Cheers to everyone else that's still pursuing this and best of luck!!
