Stay at it and look in the mirror. Don't worry about the scale. It can drive you crazy.

Newbie gains typically happen in the first few weeks. No real way to know for sure but you will probably see larger more rapid gains in you lifts over the first 3 months than at any point in your life.

I'm having the same problem. I feel like I've lost weight and some people say I look better, but the scale reads the same. It's been about a month for me. I do 30mins cardio everyday, eat clean, and lift 3 times per week. I've never lifted in my life though.

Well, you are probably adding some muscle. Also, muscle tends to absorb water a lot more when you are just starting lifting. You could be experiencing some extra water weight with some muscle gain.

my noob gains have lasted a long time (see sig). I think last week I didn't gain any muscle, so they probably stopped, but this week I noticed my lats and triceps looking bigger, so when I weigh in on Sunday I'll update my sig and you can decide for yourself.
starting stats 08/4-158.5 lbs,95cm waist, ~25% body fat
current stats 16/7-146 lbs, 81cm waist, ~13.0% body fat

    original short term goal = 16 July = 12% BF. Actual reached = 16 July = 13% BF.
New short term goal = increase calories by 250/week, hope to hit 10-11% BF by the time I reach my bulking calories (3rd Sept).
Medium term goal = 160 lbs @ 10% body fat by April 2011
long term goal = 180 lbs, 10% body fat
