    3-4 sets of 6-10 reps

Okay, I am really confused here.
When a workout says to do 3-4 sets of 6-10 reps of a particular exercise what exactly does it mean?? Should I be making a decision whether do do 3 sets of 10 or 4 sets of 6 or something in between? Or should I do as many sets in that particular range than I can for as many reps in that range that I can do?

    Bold.
    I squat ATG.
I touch my chest when I bench.
    Only way to do it.

Let's say you decide to do 3 sets. If you're getting 10 reps on every set, then you should increase the weight to where you can only get 6. Lather, rinse, repeat.

At least that's the way I see it.

Idk.. what I think seems logical would be that whoever is writing the workout means for you to choose the sets or reps in there range that would work best for you? So if I was aiming for strength, I would aim more towards 4 sets and 6 reps, correct?
