America's most publicized basketball player, LeBron James, is being sued by a man who claims to be his biological father, celebrity gossip website TMZ reported Thursday.

Leicester Bryce Stovell, 55, said he is the victim of a DNA cover up by James' mother, Gloria, who he met in a Washington, D.C., bar in 1984. He claims he had unprotected sex with her on the same night. Gloria James was 15 at the time, while Stovell was 29.

Stovell said Gloria James returned home to Ohio after the affair but told him a few months later she was pregnant with a baby boy she had named LeBron. She did not confirm who the father was, and the two fell out of contact for over 20 years.

In 2007, court documents say, Stovell began to suspect he was the father of high school phenom-turned-pro LeBron James and contacted Gloria James.

A former high school star athlete, Stovell was "struck by our similarity in appearance ... James and I are nearly if not identical height and pigmentation and have very similar athletic body types."

When confronted, Gloria James reportedly threatened Stovell on the phone and denied ever meeting him, but the James' lawyer agreed to a paternity test a few days later.

The results came back negative, but Stovell thought the results had been tampered with by both Gloria and LeBron James.

Stovell is a graduate of Princeton University and the University of Chicago law school. He works as a senior legal adviser for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

He maintains he has a vivid memory of meeting and sleeping with Gloria James and said he even joked with Gloria James that she should make sure the baby boy played basketball if he was Stovell's child.
