Not for the reasons the magazines preach. They can have their place. Personally I would use Zinc and Mag but not in the ZMA form and not all before bed. There are different timing for mag that can be more effect IMHO. They are important for overall health.

Neither of them does most of the things they are marketed as doing, so no, neither are important.

IMO both are in the category of "I've got everything else I really want and I have extra money to blow... so I guess I'll get these".

    No.

I like to have magnesium and zinc (not ZMA) in my supplement regimen (cheap and have many health benefits).

If you had the money to waste sure, but before you spend $30 or so on a tub of l-glutamine do some searches and read some of the studies and the effectiveness (or lack thereof)

    The bottom line?

Glutamine supplementation probably won't do anything for you if you are a bodybuilder on a proper dietary plan. Spend your money on more food if you are looking to build muscle.

At this point, I would really encourage you to do your own research. Granted, David has done a bang up job! Even I believed in glutamine for bodybuilding until I was faced tolook at real evidence and not a magazine ad or a myth from a big guy at the gym.
I do agree that glutamine still has health benefits, but the subsequent research shows its inefficacy for body builders.

On the other hand, SO MANY big & lean gurus/pros swear by it. I'll take their advice over anyone else on a forum just because they have results and experience to show for it. Results speak.. ya know?

I don't really view arguments as "winning" and "losing". You posted 2 links supporting your view, I posted 2 on mine; all of this with the intent that OP, or whomever, can read and make up their mind. We're just adding to a collective forum that holds an intent at spreading information, not arguing and slapping labels on subjective information as "right" and "wrong".
