why are you exaggerating this? I have only ever heard it happen to 1 mac out of probably 50+ people I know who have them, it was cleared in 10 minutes and worked just fine and still is...

I'm gonna guess you googled Mac issues or something like it, found some random ass forum post and decided, I can seriously pwn this kid on bb.com with it. That was probably something 1 out of 10000 thing that happened. Mac will one day be exploited?, Perhaps, but by then, you would think mac will move to something bigger and better where that exploitation will be handled. For now Mac is superior on security, and there is no arguing that. You dont even need Anti-Virus for a Mac and you still shouldnt get a virus, no way around it.

Apple has done some great things, particularly from a UI perspective.

However, many of the preconceived notions about their products are blatantly false (Macs don't get viruses, etc). In no way are they justified in charging twice what they should be for a computer.

No, it's what happened to the Mac I'm typing on now.

It's not just viruses that go into price. It's hardware, Interface, Programs. Mac has a lot of production in their programs which is the reason they are so good, so they charge more to cover the spread.

the simple answer to this argument is this..

if you're an idiot, or do not have the ambition to take a day or two to learn how to use a computer properly and safely, go with a mac.

if you do not apply to the latter, go with a pc.

i have zero problems with PC's, and have never had a reason to even investigate mac, i only know their prices are ridiculous.

I used to run linux actually, this was a PC/Mac Debate, I love linux, but Mac looks just like linux, interface wise, but is backed by Macs graphics/programs. Course there are pros and cons, but I believe the Pros outweigh the cons, when it comes to Mac.

" Dai Zovi, a Mac security expert and co-author of "The Mac Hacker's Handbook," revealed a flaw that that lets hackers take over a Mac OS X machine, and steal and read encrypted data, Reuters reports. Daily Tech reports that it's a relatively simple exploit:

All the technique needs is access to the memory. A few lines of code will give the attacker access to the root memory, which is then written to establish a TCP connection, allowing the hacker to download malicious files and control the computer remotely. Mr. Zovi demonstrated how the attack can be used to hijack Apple's Safari browser, stealing encrypted data from a user's bank accounts.

I've written previously that Apple refuses to acknowledge that Macs are not thoroughly safe, and that the company does a worse job than Microsoft at closing security holes. This is just one more example.

Dovi warns that there's nothing inherent in Mac OS X that makes it safer than Windows, and even says that it's actually more fun writing malware for the Mac. The Daily Tech reports him saying:

"There is no magic fairy dust protecting Macs. Writing exploits for [Microsoft] Vista is hard work. Writing exploits for Mac is a lot of fun." "

hope I don't start shitstorm but it looks inevitable with the mac vs pc fight and mac fanboys. I have been told macs have better quality then PCs...so who can prove this without bias and links to pro-mac sites?
Cause we are in a society where theres a lot of superficial people. And superficial have a mindset Macs are for them. Thats why.
They think they are paying more for protection and quality purposes cause they are ignorant about computers.
If you are ignorant about computers the chances of you buying a Mac is pretty high, if you have a high budget that is.

The more ignorant you are the higher chance you are to get a mac basically.

    Lenovo + Linux > All.

With Apple, you pay for their packaging and presentation. Their build quality is superb as is most of the hardware, that does not mean that it is not overpriced. People bitch and moan about a $500 laptop and try and say that their new $2k Macbook is "soooo much better". No ****? A $2,000 laptop is better than a $500 one? Try comparing it to a quality, high end PC and see that there is no difference. Also the Mac OSX that so many fanboys love and adore is nothing more than a modded BSD with a fancy UI.

I will say though that amongst my friends/acquaintances, the ones who had problems with their Windows based machines and now swear by Macs are the "Communications Major" type lol. These are the types of people that click on every suspicious link and blame their computer once it breaks. When Macs have a larger marketshare and more viruses are written for OSX, those idiots will no longer be safe.

most of the malware stuff that has been in the news has long been patched, and in most cases never found in the wild, only in published reports or competitions.

I've read it, and I'm not an idiot, if for now mac is secure, then why have I never had a virus, nor my 8 or 9 freinds have never had a virus, meanwhile i've fixed my old Windows machines, and a couple of my buddies' windows machines. You show me where a bunch of macs are getting viruses and i'll believe it. And for the record, Mac has fixed a bunch of holes they have found themselves, so believe me, when it is expoited they're gonna take care of it nice and quick.
