The last one I did was when my kids were in cub scouts, the parents against the kids. I was in front of one lady when the match started. There were a lot more kids than parents and they ultimately won. The lady I was next to, I got up close and personal with, her bra pulled up at some point and we rubbed together most deliciously.

To improve ability, squats, deads, rows are a given.

Ability to keep standing takes some other skills. Try tai chi, box jumps and anything that makes you keep your balance under challenge: i.e. soccer, rugby

Get a length of rope the same diameter as the rope you Tug Of War with, secure it to your car on flat ground, and practice pulling it to you, hand over hand.

Squats, deadlifts and pull ups should do it for you.

+ what Ironwill said. We are not dumb; it's just that we're not as smart as Ironwill.
