i am trying to gain muscle mass but stay lean and i have recently been eating potatoes after a workout about an hour after i have had protein shake. The shake has about 50g of carbs in anyway, but an hour later i have potatoes and chicken and since ive been doing this i have noticed that i have gained a little bit of fat around my stomach. Is this because of the amount of carbs im taking in after my workout and should i eat potatoes before my workout and not after? i try to eat brown rice before with chicken or sometimes just brown rice on its own which is enough.

preferably just have the chicken with a little bit of rice(brown rice) You wont need the extra carbs after your workout. The rice should suffice with a decent amount of carbs post workout. so drink ur protein shake within 30min after working out. then 30 min later your small meal.
