I found this thread trying to find the creepy story thread. Long cliffs but I tried to keep it short, it's a long story, I only put in the vital details.
- Guy is keeping a journal which he updates after every cave visit. He explores a well visited cave with his caver friend B, and finds a small hole deep into the cave.
- Air coming out the hole, which could mean there is more cave through there to be explored, and from what he can see with the torch, it opens up after the small hole.
- Over several visits they widen the hole with tools, and they hear rumbling which goes on and off which they couldn't explain.
- B brings his dog, who loves caving. but once the dog reaches the hole, she gets very scared, and sits and whimpers the whole time. They brush it off and continue.
- One day they hear a loud noise of rocks grinding against each other, which makes them curious. They hear a loud scream, which both scares them.
- They keep digging and eventually its big enough to go through.
- B is too big to get through so the other dude (guy who keeps the journal) decides to go, after a tight squeeze in a long thin tunnel, he makes it through into a bigger passage and keeps going.
- He comes across a big round rock in one of the passages, which is odd to him for some reason, anyway he ignores it and goes into this room. On the wall are some hieroglyphics, which makes him think there is another entrance.
- As he goes back, he feels that going alone made him feel uneasy, as its dark and silent and a good bit away from B, so they decide to bring another friend down called Joe on the next visit.
- They bring Joe, and both the guy and joe get through, the guy then hits his head and injures himself badly, he tells Joe to go on himself, and that he can expect to see a round rock and some heiroglphics. Joe agrees and goes off.
- Joe takes longer than they agreed, after a long wait, he eventually comes back looking pale and shocked. He says he isn't OK, and wants to get out the cave. He is silent after the whole trip and he refuses to talk about anything.
- They both decide to explore the cave deeper without Joe, but bring a phone thing, incase anything happens to the guy. He goes in and all is well, and talks to the phone to B
- He goes in, goes deeper than before, this time however, when he gets in and past the room he hears the loud rumbling again and it scares the **** out of him, also he finds that the phone wire isn't working which makes it worse
- He scurries back, as he passes the large rock, he sees that its been moved (now on top of the phone wire), to reveal a dark passage down to another room, this scares him even more and he runs back quick as hell to B
- When he is trying to get through the tight tunnel, they both smell the worst smell imaginable, like rotting flesh, which makes them gag. He rushes to get through.
- As they escape the cave, the ropes they use to get out, get tight and are pulled back into the cave, meaning what ever the **** is in that cave is following them up the ropes.
- They get out sweating, tired, relieved, and the rope anchored to the tree gets tight, B cuts the rope and it falls into the cave.
- After that even they both have weird things happen, he lives in constant paranoia, sees things in his house, hears noises. Turns out both B and Joe are having the same problem. So in order to get over this, and cure themselves, they need to go in the cave. They bring guns.
- The last entry to the journal is talking about him preparing to go in the cave, he says he "will be back soon".
- The journal ends, hasn't been updated since.

Then you're retarded. It's not a hoax, it's just a story.
*SPOILER*
The story of Ted the caver is pretty old, and it was originally written in some book. Somebody decided to put the story online, and thus made that anglefire page with images to illustrate the story. Nobody is going to buy a domain name and server to blog about his cave experiences, that's why it being hosted on anglefire gives it a much better feel. I'm not sure about the original, but the web version deliberately ends when Ted says that he's going back to the cave.

Read it. It's worth it.
A hoax is more or less when someone tries to fake something, or try to trick you into believing something that isn't true. The introduction and images added to the story are there to make it more immersive, and they do a good job at it.
It's not about whether it's real or not.

Yeah its not a hoax its just convenient that pictures of "hieroglyphics" failed to be produced and that he forgot his video camera in the cave.

BTW here are shorter cliffs for anyone interested.
Guy and dood go into mystery cave , find hole in wall and want to make it bigger
Guy and dood bring along dog, dog gets scared, hole gets bigger
Guy and dood bring another guy along named Joe, they go in hole, Joe gets scared and doesnt come back
Guy and dood go back into cave and go in hole, guy sees "hieroglyphics" on the wall and a big rock. Leave.
Guy and dood go back into cave and and into hole, guy smashes head on rock wall, guy runs out of light besides a glowstick, guy hears noise and sees big rock has moved leaving behind another passage.
Guy freaks out and leaves with dood scared
final page says they are going back.........the end.

Have you seen Quarantine? Or Cloverfield? Both, as well as many other movies, revolve around trying to make it seem as if they were filmed with an actual camera of a person taking part in the events.
Nobody is trying to convince you that those movies are real events. They just make it seem more real, and suck you deeper into the story. That's the point behind the way Ted the Caver was written.

I passed it around my office at the time, adding to it with my own unique brand of macabre story telling I had them ****ting in their knickers in no time at all.

i did read it and it was pure bs
nothing adds up
- he happens to leave his videocamera
- he pictures of the hieroglyphics happen to not come out
- he happens to hit his head on the ceiling which forces Joe to go alone and thats when **** goes down
- the picture of "floyd's tomb" doesnt even show the 7 inch tunnel leading out. all i saw was solid rock

Argh, that story always makes me sh!t brix. Even when he gets out of the cave and the whole something was pulling the rope bit makes me freak out. And when he goes home he still sees shadows, hears noises, etc.

Did you analyze the image exif data to verify if it was indeed taken with a Kodak?
