Lets say you don't want to gain fat. And you happened to get out of control with your eating. Do you hit the gym right away to try to use the food as fuel and not to accumulate new fat??

So you're thinking that after you stuff your belly to bursting you should immediately go and lift heavy/run hard at the gym? You're gonna hurl bro.
Look under your chair. YOU GET A REP, AND YOU GET A REP, REPS FOR EVERYONE! If I get a rep, you get a rep, every time. Give me a link to make my life a little easier.
If you don't give me a link and you didn't post in the thread you rep'd me in, I'm not gonna go searching for you. I'll get everyone on recharge.

Any time i over eat that much, I just make sure that i control what i eat beter the next few days and train extra hard to negate the effects. But If your on a controlled calorie diet for a long while, the extra calorie amount in the meal will make your metabolism go higher because it believes i will have to. Kinda the Yo-yo diet idea. =P

I can't imagine how it would make a difference. If you're eating at an overall deficit over a given timespan, the calories from that particular binge will be used somehow and at some time, whether you burn them while the food is still sitting in your stomach or you wait for the excess to be stored as fat.

This.
When I first started 'dieting' it became unhealthy very quickly. I either a) had to be strict all the time everytime or b) go crazy over cheating c) be strict all the time everytime... but if I'm not, so what, no biggie.
I chose C.
I remember when my friend started dieting (it didn't last, although he is a skinny runt now). His motto? "Eating is for fat people". Oops.

man i think you are envisioning that your body absorbs or does its thing immediately. takes time for food to breakdown and travel thru your system. I relax after a big meal and maybe push a little harder next day, but I look at what happened the entire day. Sometimes especially if you've been training hard, its not necessarily bad to go crazy every once in a while (carb cycling/cheat meal)
