Question How many meals do you eat per day?

I know people say the number of meals per day and meal frequency makes no difference as long as you hit your macros by the end of the day, but why then, do all the professional bodybuilders eat 6-8 meals a day spaced 2-3 hours apart?

How many meals do you guys eat per day and do those meals have similar macro distributions?

I think you'll get mainly opinions on this one. But, keeping your insulin levels stable and fueling your body little by little rather than 3 big gulps of food makes sense to me. You're constantly keeping your system charged and working. Also, if you eat many meals per day, you'll be less hungry which means you won't eat as much. If you were starving for 5 hours and then ate a meal, you'll probably overeat and get fat. Your eyes are bigger than your stomache.

2-3 meals for me. I prefer to feel full/serving of food.

Oh and OP...BBers eat that many meals because they consume 3-5x more calories than we do so it is harder to have a 2-3k cal meal in one sitting lol.

I eat several- 6-8 per day. Mainly because I get full really quick, so in order for me to hit 3600+ calories, I break it up into 4-5 smaller meals and a couple "snack" meals. Plus I get grumpy if I get hungry. But I don't like feeling overly full and bloated, or else I get lazy.

all of these... when i eat a lot in one sitting i feel really bloated and i HATE that feeling, plus i get hungry about every 2.5 hours, so eating a meal every 3 keeps me from going on a killing spree from hunger

I eat about every 2-3 hours, just because I don't like the feeling of being full.

6-7. Similar macros because most of my meals are the same in the first place. High carb + high protein + low fat, at the moment.

The reason why we as bodybuilders eat frequently is because we have higher than normal overall caloric intakes. It's much easier to eat 6-7 1000 calorie meals, than it is 3 x 2000 calorie meals (for example). Especially when we're typically eating pretty healthy all year round. Healthy food isn't generally the most calorie dense food.

About seven times a day, two hours apart. 200-300 calories per mini meal now, just because I'm cutting. Not for any broscience reasons, but because it has made a big difference for me when it comes to feeling full without being TOO full. If I go too long without eating I feel terribly hungry--my body doesn't seem to care how much I eat at once, only that it keeps coming regularly.

So it's probably just a mental thing, but it is what is easiest and results in best quality-of-life for me.

I get six meals a day at 500 calories per meal and i don't have to count calories to see where i'm at. I try not to get too much into macros, because i know how many macros basically, that is in my food. The reason i get six meals is so that i can have 3000 calories a day, which is what i need to gain, i need 2500 to maintain at my current weight and 3000 to gain, i'm 140, the last time i checked.

I've also heard that the macro distributions of the meals don't really matter as long as you hit your targets by the end of the day. Is that true or should most carbs be consumed around the work-out time?
