How FAST do you MASS?
is it possible for 4lbs of muscle can be packed on in a week. Even if you only did that certain excersize once that week?
I found it wierd that i did squats and pull ups for the first time ever, on monday this week...i was 220LBS, I fallowed to the "POINT" when it came to my diet, but when i stepped on the scale today, im now 224LBS.
What do you think might have went wrong or right?
P.S.
I drank an accessive amount of water this week, so much that my bowels are runny ( i know its TMI, but i gotta know whats goin on)
Laugh! Laugh! laugh!, it keeps you younger at heart :)

It could be what you ate before weighing, how much water you're holding, fat or muscle gain, hormones, etc.
One weigh in isn't necessarily a good measure!

But is it possible to gain 4lbs of FAT on a strict diet? I drank at least a gallon of water for 5 days straight

It might not be fat, it might be the other things I mentioned.
Unless you've got awesome muscle memory going on though, it's unlikely that you'd gain 4lbs of muscle in a week...

Nothing went wrong, it's simple water fluctuation. Give your body a little more time to adjust and it should be gone in another week.

I agree with both posters...It could be 4 pounds of anything. It isn't unusual for my weight to fluctuate that much (especially as I near TOM) and I don't have as much body tissue to store it in.
Drinking water will lead to your body letting go of it more easily (it will hold on to it if you UNDERDRINK it). I can't tell you exactly how much water you need to drink (a gallon a day certainly isn't unreasonable for an active person in a climate like the one in San Antonio), but understand drinking plenty of water will do nothing but HELP you in your weight loss journey.

How does one know how much water should be consumed a day?

It's not possible to gain 4 lbs of fat or muscle in a week, and especially if you're eating in a calorie deficit.
However, when you work out hard, you create mini-tears in your muscles. Your body then floods your muscles with fluids (blood, water, etc.) in order to facilitate the healing of those tears. (It's the recovery and the healing that builds strength and muscle). It's possible that the water you're retaining is part of the weight gain.
It's also possible that if you ate a lot of sodium, the scale will go up as you retain fluids.
It could be your period or ovulation - I tend to hold on to fluids during both those times and can gain up to 8lbs of water weight in the 2 days prior to my period.
It could be that you're not weighing consistently (at the same time of day, wearing the same clothes, with nothing in your stomach).
The American Sports Medicine Institute recommends you use 1/2 oz of water per 1 lb of bodyweight as a starting point for figuring your water intake. On very hot days, or days where you exercise hard or sweat a lot, you should probably increase that some.
