I dunno if anyone else has ever found this, but for the last few years I've been a bulker, eating as much as I can all the time and packing on the size. And tbh I always felt tired, bloated and a bit down in the dumps. Admitidly i have always been dirty bulking.
However, the last week or so I completely switched it all around, fruit, chicken and just small amounts of food as and when, and I feel more energy and alot more cheerful. I'm not always anxious about when I should be eating and my mood and life quality seems to have changed for the better.
Anyone else found this?

Yer for sure ey.
When i first started bulking, i bulked dirty and negelected any form of cardio.
Became fatigued all the time, bloated, cramps and just generally sluggish all the time.
Started eating clean and learned the importance of cardio to keep the heart and lungs healthy, and i now feel much better, energy is higher then it ever was and found i didnt put fat on as easy.
Still have the days where im force feeding myself, feeling sicker with every bite but you get use to that lol

I'm a 'reformed' bulker - seriously, that sh!t is not good for you at all.
Who wants to be bloated and fat for 8 months of the year then spend 3 months trying to get rid of all the fat, then spend one month cut having lost a ton of muscle.
Fuk that sh!t

Literally these are the things I've notice since I started eating to be lean instead of bulky/fat. I workout 5-6 days a week btw.
-more energy
-less anxious/down
-more confidence
-cheerful
-less tired
to name but a few.
My diet daily consists of the following-
1 bannana
2/3 protein shakes
2cereal bars
1 chicken breast
1 breaded fish
1 PB sandwich
4 litres of water
1 multi vitamin
whereas before I was eating, chips, crisps, chocolate, pastry, fry ups etc
feels good and literally am astounded at the difference it makes to my moodAin't nutin but a peanut

this is why you bulk with clean foods instead of crap.
how youre feeling has everything to do with the TYPE of food you are eating, not how much of it.WWJD-What Would Jesus Deadlift?

^^^^The only person in this thread that has said anything with truth and substance.
It's possible to CLEAN bulk. Bulking doesn't mean eating whatever you want and a ton of crap. That's just being a fat ass and working out. What seperates you from any other person that says they try to lose weight by working out but eat a ton of crap!?!?!??

Food = Energy.
The only reason you would feel like crap is because you were eating crap. There is no reason you should be low on energy if eating in a calorie surplus and eating clean foods.
Pretty sure you were doing it wrong (in a sense that you were eating too much dirty food). My Workout Log (NEW): http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=136142601

I don't know about it ruining the quality of my life, but I have definitely realized that bulking is bull**** and I should not have listened to all the people on this forum preaching about it when I started 3.5 years ago. I mean I guess it worked in a way, I did put on a good amount of muscle along with the fat. And since I started cutting on may 20th last month, I have dropped about 10 pounds, mostly all fat I think. But for the last couple years of "bulking" I had basically no ab definition, so I didn't really look that much better without my shirt on than anyone else lol Why workout hard and eat a ton, only to look ****ty without a shirt on? After this month cut I am finally almost done, probably go another 2 more weeks to lose some more lower back fat/last bit off my abs, and then I am just eating a little over maintenance and maintaining abs from here on out.. Bulking is pointless, adding all that extra fat isn't helping anything. I myself can only put on maybe 8 or 10 pounds of muscle naturally a year, so that is all I will try to put on, 1 pound a month at most is realistic after working out for a few years..
Weighted pullups = 195 lbs x1
Weighted dips = 225 lbs x2
Squat = 405 x2

Because I'd only been on prozac a few days when I decided to cut and after 3 days or so of eating good and little I feel 60% better. Prozac will take another 2 weeks or so to be fully effective. No doubt it has helped.
The bloatedness, tiredness and general ****ty feeling I know is attributed to eating loadsa **** food.
This time, once I get my abs I will never lose them, If I ever bulk again after I've shredded it will be a very slow healthy bulkAin't nutin but a peanut

I'm a noob, started lifting and dieting back in October.
I'm down 30 pounds and don't have far to go and have good gains in muscle.
While I consider bulking, I ask myself why I'd want to go through this all again...when
my personal goals are not so much to attain hulk size.
Can you gain muscle simply eating at maintenance level, or at a few hundred calories over ?
iliketojuggle mentioned eating just over maint and maintaining abs. Does that mean self balancing your cals based on what you are seeing in the mirror ?"The two kinds of people, on earth I mean, are the people who lift and the people who lean."
