"Losing it with Jillian" - Anyone watch that show?

I saw the first episode, missed the second. What does everyone think? I thought it was a bit emotional to be honest.

I was dissapointed, I am sure she helped and did more then they filmed but as far as people at home learning from it, I think the biggest thing was "you are going to die" and not "here is how you don't die". Especially as far as eating habits and what not, but maybe you have to watch more of them to get a better idea.

I saw part of episode 1 and 2.

I liked watching Jillian!!!!!!...but the show was overdramatic and a little too emotional for my liking.

I think that if you have a stall in your weight training progression, you could watch Losing It With Jillian and her obnoxious stupidity and indifference to client health would give you a nice rage-on that would help you smash your personal best lifts.

I have watched 3 episodes and while i do kind of like it for some reason (i think i like jillian...i don't know why but i do), i was kind of bothered by how she yells at people .

I know everyone is under medical supervision on that show, but someone who hasn't gotten off the couch and is 200lbs overweight is probably going to have a hard time running the first time that they do it.

When you are someone who trains with a bunch of strongman guys, you yell at each other like that tough...

I have a feeling if Jillian and I did a workout together we would probably get into some sort fight

I think the show is great! If anyone follows up on The Biggest Looser, many of the contestants unfortunately gain most or all of their weight back after the show. I think what that show was missing was uncovering the emotional, mental, family, and home struggles those people were facing. People who gain that much weight have more to change than just their diet and exercise habits. I think this show is right on target because Jillian moves in with these people and tackles everything she sees so that they can improve their entire lives. I think a lot of people on the biggest looser had a hard time going back home to all of their usual stressors and routines when they moved back in with their families and picked their lives up again. A fat camp isnt the solution, changing their lives while they are living them is what makes lasting change for these people, not a vacation type experience. I think this show is GREAT!!

I love Jillian, and the biggest loser, but I'll admit I'm a little disappointed with this show. Episode 1 was ok, I didn't care for episode 2, and I only watched episode 3 out of boredom and wasn't all that into it...

i'm w/ you in that i love jillian, but i don't like the show at all. i find it boring and the psychoanalysis and psychobabble annoy me to no end - and i went to grad school for psychopathology and absolutely love that stuff. but she's kinda life coach-y and i can't take it. just the way she is abt it. and i get that the families all have stories, but i dunno, for some reason, it doesn't make me feel more invested in them or anything. maybe i just wanna see the more of the working out and changing diet. don't know. but i still think jillian kicks ass.

In Australia, all PTs are required to be qualified in CPR.

That doesn't mean we should try to give clients a heart attack.

Yes but you would win, she is all about the lean, not the strong.

Last night I was working with a guy, he was doing barbell sumo deadlifts for the first time. The first couple of sets were a bit rough as he learned the movement. By the third set he was looking smooth and strong with it, though just did 3 reps.

I gave him a fourth set, told him to do 3 reps again. By the 2nd rep he was doing it so smoothly that I said, "You're doing well, better make it 4 reps."

    "FCK YOU!" he cried indignantly.
    I laughed.
He did 4 reps, put down the weight.
"Okay, keep your back extended as you lower the weight... well done."
I patted him on the back.
"See, I knew you could do 4 reps."
    "Get fcked," he said.

So here's my thought: A bad trainer swears and yells at the clients, a good trainer has their clients swear and yell at them.

I like it and yes, it is emotional, but then I cry when watching Biggest Loser too. Jillian is like that - she wants to get into people's heads and find out why they gained this weight and what they are trying to protect themselves from. She does this on BL too, but we don't see a lot of it. Jillian is someone you have to grow to love. She has said on her radio show and in interviews that since her mom is a therapist she's been in therapy her whole life, so that's what she does, a type of therapy.

I am wondering what type of diet these people are on. I mean this one woman lost like 60-70 pounds in 6 weeks! And here I'm struggling to get below 200, been doing this for 6 months, and lost like 30 pounds. But then I'm not eating more than 1200 calories, so I would like to see a little more focus on what they are eating and workouts and such as well.

I am glad in the first show when the 12 year old said she wanted to lose 20 pounds Jillian told her she was too young to think about weight loss, she needed to think more about just being active and being more healthy. I think that's a positive thing to say to kids and something they need to take to heart.

its kinda like X-weighted in canada which is an awesome and way better show. Its over a period of 6 months and the people are still working and living normal lives so I think its way more interesting. I saw losing it and it was terrible i thought and will never watch it again. It could be done wayyyy better.

I just watched the other two episodes, and am starting to warm up to it. However, it is totally an emotion attraction, I haven't learned anything (but i think all of us on here don't really have TOO much to learn from a 45 minute show on essentials) but I think she is starting to put together things that will hopefully be able to help people let go of whats making them unhealthy.

I think the show is intended to reach out to those who identify with the people on the show, more than to those of us who go to a gym regularly. Granted it is good motivation when someone loses that much weight to get me back to the gym. I think the average American sitting on the couch eating their potato chips and watching the show may reflect on why they are the size they are. I appreciate how Jillian deals with the mental and emotional reasons why the people are the size they are. Even the one girl who had gastric bypass still had the mentality of an overweight person until Jillian worked with her.

On a side note, anyone needing a shakeup to their workout routine may want to try Jillian's 30 day shred DVD. I lost .5" from my waist and .25" from my thighs in the first ten workouts alone.
Because somewhere out there, a girl is warming up with your max.

If you really want to do something, you'll find a way. If you don't, you'll find an excuse.

No, I will not post/send you nudes. No, you may not PIITB, PIITV or PIITM. Find someone else to sexually harass.

Well, I think its pretty hot! I like the show because it is a real wake up call for people who are not like us (people who dont work out and worry about what we eat). Remember, the general public is clueless. I think it is doing a good service.

Biggest Loser is great but its too easy to make excuses about why you cant do something like that (I dont have that kind of time, i dont have a ranch, i dont know how to use a gym..) Losing it brings it home.
