Sometimes it makes me wonder if a banana is worth 100 calories when your counting them. That's the same as a small piece of chicken that has protein, or a lot more other fruits... I guess potassium is really important?

i actually agree with you - every time i have it after my workout im like DAM i could have had a cookie!!!! or 2 pieces of toast (low calorie ones) lol or yogurt with berries. 100 calories on a cut is a lot. 1 apple 50 calories. apples are way more filling too. i eat my banana in 5 seconds lol - but my diet says banana so i have to have it but it pisses me off i could have a cookie instead and at least a cookie has protein.

Okay, so eating 10 strawberries gives you 2/5 the energy that a banana does.
Calories = Energy
literally. You can even convert calories to btu's. They are simply units of energy. Energy that must be utilized to lift weights, to pump amino acids to the muscles, to digest food, to urinate, to keep blood flowing, etc etc.
If it fits in your daily macronutrient needs, then eat a banana.
