Don't worry, its not me, its my retarded brother who goes through fad diets every couple months, vegan, raw food, vegetarian, you name it. Now he's telling me that I know nothing about nutrition (I'm 12 bf%) and workout 6 days a week. He doesn't do any activity and is mildly obese), and he's gonna do this 30 bananas a day diet for 7 days. I try explaining insulin, glucose, and other stuff like that, he doesn't listen.
So...help me with this argument, any scientific links good too. Thanks!

I would let him do it. Just see how it goes and maybe track his progress. Interesting "experiment"
But 30 bananas = 2900-3200ish cals so if his maintenance is below that, he will gain weight..
Also you guys will have to stock up on a ALOT of bananas. 210 bananas in a week :OObsessed is the word the lazy use to describe the dedicated.

Actually you're trying to explain him the wrong things. None of that stuff matters.
What matters is this: he's going to be above his maintenance and therefore he's definitely going to gain fat. He's going to have a serious lack of essential amino acids and therefore definitely going to lose muscle. He's going to have a seriously lack of essential fatty acids and his endocrine system is going to suffer. He's going to be taking in a sh|tload of Potassium and therefore shed a certain amount of water weight by the end of the week.
30 bananas/day = stupid.

Well you said he isn't active and mildy obese.
I am not justifying this diet, it by all means sounds stupid as hell and would never even think of doing anything close to this. If he is going to do it though, and he is serious about doing it, then just see what happens.
EDIT: ^^^^^
What he said as for why not to do it.Obsessed is the word the lazy use to describe the dedicated.

A banana has about 1 gram of protein, so he will get 30 grams per day. You say that he is mildly obese, so it is hard to tell whether 30 bananas would have him in a caloric deficit or surplus, but there may be some muscle loss. Even using the US RDA for inactive adult males, he is under the recommended amount for protein (and fat).

The only thing he will be loosing is water weight due to a huge amount of potassium being consumed. Thats probably why its only for a week. You will lose alot of water weight but gain fat as 30 bananas will definately be over the average persons maintenance. This will give the illusioin that you have lost a large amount of weight though in reality you have gained fat.

I can't even imagine what it would feel like to eat 30 bananas in one day. Wake up, 10 bananas. Wait. 10 more. Wait. 10 more. Sleep. Repeat for 7 days?? I would snap on day 2.

LMAO. A thread over there is called:
"Is everybody's goal here to earn enough money to get a piece of land in a tropical place to grow their mini-fruit farm and then not have a job? If not, why not?"
Here are some nuggets of advice in another laughable thread over there:
"If you're ask where do you get your proteins from, you should ask back, how much protein you actually need. This method could be applied to other sucking questions concerning special nutrients, too. Last week I've been asked about my iodine intake, too. It was a supposed friend of mine. This sucks. I don't know why people can't be just supportive. They think they are so g**d**** right, just because they belong to the stupid majority. ...They need the security of the majority and tradition - no matter if they become fat or ill. They believe in the "experts", in practioners...They are so brainwashed they don't want to see it unless their suffering is not big enough."
And:
"Same here. All they seem to ask is the protein and the calcium.
Funny, because
Protein------> Meat industry propaganda
Calcium-----> Dairy industry propaganda"
