Meals to eat before my 7 Mile run

    Hey guys/gals,

I'm running a 7 Mile Run this coming Sunday (June 13th) through the City of Baltimore. I was wondering if any of you knew what the best foods to eat were from now all the way up to the my pre-race meal (proabably around 5:30 am. Race is at 8). I'm guessing carbs would be smart and to stay away from really fatty foods. Should I Carbo-load on Friday or Saturday?

Can't wait til this race is over. Then it's back to LIFTING!

Any and all responses are greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Sizzzzzzzler

Carbo-Loading helps. Friday & Saturday night for dinner get a lot of pasta/oatmeal/potatoes/whatever in you.

~4 hours before your run have a large'ish balanced meal of carbs & fats & protein. FATS ARE IMPORTANT for an endurance event. Not too many, and preferably not from stuff that upsets your stomach (i.e. have an avocado over having bbq ribs).

~30-45minutes before the run have a good 100g of sugars from Gatorade or similar.

    Good luck.

I like to eat something small and light before the run and a glass of cytomax, and bring a gel pak with me for the run. Carb load the night before with pasta.

I just ran 6.7 miles in 55 minutes (training for half marathon aug 1).

I had 4 eggs 4 egg whites and oatmeal this morning at 9 and then ran at 11:30. Had enough energy and no real problems. Make sure you force yourself to go to the bathroom as much as possible before you start running. Nothing is worse than having to go 1, 2 is even worse, in teh middle of a long run.

Yeah, I'm thinking the morning of I'll have some oatmeal, eggs and maybe a protein shake with water. Race is at 8, so I'm thinking around 5 I should eat.

I was able to get 5.5 in around the 47 min mark, then I had to walk for a few. I'll just have to push through the last mile or so.

It is a good thing no one has mentioned the ridiculous idea of fat loading several days before an endurance event. We may have to argue if so...
