    Creatine Monohydrate Blood Test

So I had been taking creatine monohydrate at a recommended dosage of 5g a day. During this period I went and got a blood test done general health purposes. It should that my creatinine levels were double the maximum of the normal range and my liver enzymes were drastically elevated. My doctor thought I had kidney or liver failure or something so she made me get an ultrasound. Everything is fine which leads me to the question; does the creatine monohydrate simply throw off the blood test results or is it actually impacting my liver for instance negatively? Creatinine is a metabolite of creatine so that being elevated is expected, i guess.

    Any similar experiences/thoughts?

I'm assuming you weren't drinking enough water... It's suggested to drink 4+ liters a day while taking creatine...

I recently got the results from blood tests and everything was in the optimal range, including creatinine levels, and I've been taking 10grams of creatine a day.

Same thing happened to me. I had elevated creatinine levels and I drink more than enough water/fluids. you're a young male, eat a diet high in protein, and supplement with creatine. Your creatinine levels are going to be a little higher than normal. No big deal.

Being a male is a matter of birth. However, being a "man" is a matter of choice.

Photo in Avi is not current, I'm way fatter now.

I think his post was more or less concerning his liver enzymes elevating. ;o

This seems to affect some people, but not in others (sorry for the obvious)

I have elevated creatinine levels, but only slightly over norm, and the same with urea

My doc told me this is normal for people who are serious with bodybuilding (lifting hard, and eating hard)

so many doctors who do not understand this, can drive a lot of fear into a patient when these test results come back, purely because they have no clue about anything else then the average-office-clerk-3-square-meal-8-cups-of-water-a-day-guy.

Drink more water man, its not strange to see guys drinking up to 10liters a day, especially with a physical job. Get a blood test every 6months, to just keep an eye on things

I was drinking at least 5 liters of water. The ultrasound came out normal and when I stopped taking the creatine my liver enzyme levels returned to normal.
