    Posing music

I'm getting ready for my 1st NPC show @ 54 years old. I am looking for suggestions for posing music. BTW, I am not a dancer. Thanks for the help.

Most importantly, be true to yourself. If you listen to a certain style of music in the gym, choose something similar that will help get you pumped up on stage. Don't pick a hip-hop song or some gangster rap simply because that's what other, younger competitors are doing.

Stay away from slow songs, unless you can honestly say that you are a truly masterful poser. (If this is your first show, I'll assume you're not.) You don't need to dance on stage, but an upbeat song is usually far more entertaining for the audience. And if the audience is entertained, you can draw from their energy.

Personally, I like it when masters competitors pull music from "their era". For example, for someone in their 50s now, I think some classic rock from the 70s would be appropriate. Some old Bruce, Rolling Stones, Boston... but again, choose something that YOU enjoy.

    Good luck with the show!

At the 1983 Mr. Olympia Frank Zane posed to one of Pink Floyd's songs which ended up being pretty awesome. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOPbOCvMsLs You can watch it at that link, it's great; might give you some posing ideas as well. Good luck.
