Best Cheap Olympic Barbell
Okay, I have seen threads like this but nothing that helps me out. My current CAP barbell broke (I got it in a 300lb set) and I need a new bar. I would like a 7' 44-45lb bar. I need it cheap though, 70-130 dollars is my range but 150 should be fine if that bar is that much better. I wont be using it for anything more than 400lbs so I dont need a 3000lb super bar, just something that wont break... any help

First of all, what were you doing that you broke a bar?
No brain, no gain.
You can't out-train bad nutrition.

nothing at all, the two caps that separate the place where you put the weight and where you grab the bar are broken. They wont screw back on. It basically means the weight, if I become unbalanced, could fall down onto my hand or face

This topic comes up several times a day in here. Here's some good current info:

It's not a sticky; I simply pulled it up from a search of "olympic bar."
$150 is about as cheap as you're going to find new. Maybe you'd do better to just buy another bar like the one you've got, used.
The reason I asked how it got busted was to determine if you were doing any lifts where you had to drop the loaded bar; the cheapies will not hold up to that. If all you're going to do is regular basic lifts (Deads, Squats, Cleans, etc., where you're not dropping the weight) an inexpensive used bar should do.

livin' the high life
i've heard many good reviews on the jesup gym power bar. it's supposed to have very aggressive knurling, though- so be expecting that. this bar is another that's "on my list" when i buy a new bar. my list is long, though, and will probably depend on what else is going on when i finally decided to buy one. it is $165 shipped.
anyway, here's a link to their site's barbell page. if anyone is interested, they have the trap bar for $170 shipped again. i know it's been quite a bit cheaper, but this is a decent price for a nice bar.

edit: they've got "blemished" trap bars for $150 shipped.

Reason: added price and added note.
