Protein doesn't make you gain weight, calories do. Tell your aunt to give the kid more food if he needs to be bigger. But I'm willing to bet he's not too skinny at all... better to be a little thinner when you're younger than too fat. Easier to put the weight on as he grows up than it is to take it off.

You'll proly flame/diss me, but giving protein shake to a skinny 11 yo boy seems just plain stupid to me.
1. proteins are the worst way to go if you want to add weight
2. even if you're on a 'protein for a weight' plan, it's not for a 11 yo
3. if he's that skinny that you're worried, and he doesn't want to eat, there's a reason for it. There's a place called a hospital where you can check the boy. I bet there are at least 1000 things that might be 'causing it. Or maybe he's ok, just skinny by your standards. I was super skinny till 18! Doctors can be very helpfull with this.
I have a friend that is extremly skinny, and he eats like everybody else. It's just that he has some rare white blood cells deformity and it's just impossible for him to add weight.

Maybe a homemade gainer? Would be easier to eat if the kid can't eat much.

How about making him a milkshake? Put milk in, few bannanas add stuff here and there , mix it up and give it to him ..

I give them to my little brother all the time but hes 13. Not going to be harmful but you might as well just give him some chocolate milk or a milk shake.

Give him Deca. haha just kidding. Nah, protein shakes are fine, but they are a SUPPLEMENT. Meaning, he should not live on shakes, he should take the protein shake only to SUPPLEMENT his REAL COOKED MEALS of the DAY.
And for the record, 11 year olds can be skinny. Some of the greatest athletes started off skinny. It's the kids that mature to early who usually get passed up by the late bloomers. I know this, because I was one of them. I started High School (freshmen) 5' , 99 lbs. Yes that's tiny. I graduated (senior) ALL DISTRICT, 5'11" 185 & had varsity team weight room records. I then went on to play college ball at 6'0" 225 (college senior). It's not a bad thing to be skinny, I was. Just make sure he participates in athletics whether he's small right now or not. It will benefit him later when he grows.

Quality protein, fish oil, creatine mono, a good multi and this 11-year-old kid is good to go.

You want calorie dense foods. Shoot for stuff like PB, whole milk, red meat, and a donut or the like every once in a while. Such foods have a lot of calories but not a whole lot to make you feel full. For example, I could probably eat over 1000 calories of PB (~20 spoonfulls) and feel just as full as if I ate only 300 calories of some other carb/fiber heavy food (for example two servings of oats).
