Woman's boyfriend killed in Gateshead double shooting
Armed police are searching for a man newly released from prison who they believe shot his ex-girlfriend before killing her new partner on Tyneside.
Raoul Thomas Moat, from Newcastle, was released from a Durham jail on Thursday having served a sentence for assault.
Police believe the attack, in Scafell, Birtley, Gateshead, at about 0240 BST, was motivated by a "grudge" against the dead man.
A woman remains in a critical condition in hospital.
Northumbria Police have warned people not to approach Moat, saying he could be dangerous.
Police have confirmed that all the people involved in the incident were linked.
'Held grudge'
Det Supt Steve Howes, of Northumbria Police, said: "I would like to stress that this is not a random attack and that the people involved are all known to each other.
'Held grudge'
Det Supt Steve Howes said it is possible it was a "grudge attack"
"We believe the offender targeted his victims because of a grudge he held against them."
Ray Huntley, who lives nearby, was first on the scene. He said: "I heard gunshot fire and there was a commotion.
"I found a body on the grass opposite the house. He was dead so I called 999. He had a hole in the back of his head."
The cause of death of the man, who has not been named, has yet to be established but police have confirmed both he and the injured woman suffered injuries "believed to be consistent with a gunshot wound".
A post-mortem examination is due to take place later.

I would love to be able to own a gun (srs) the laws dont really do jack sh!t, Second killing spree within a month.
You guys have been brought up to respect guns, our country hasnt so i dont know how it would work out considering most of the people in this country are Chavs/council estate retards. But still it sucks that we cant own firearms.
Theres a pizza shop in Newcastle (its nick name is Smack head chippy becasue they sell drugs) that sells Tech-9's and the police dont do anything about it (srs)

It works both ways, allowing guns mean we can protect ourselves, but at the same time it also gives more nutters like this chap an easy way to attack/kill people.
The amount of youths using knives as a weapon is scary, i would hate to think how much damage would be caused by a gun. Especially since none of our regular police force carry guns.☆☆☆υк ¢яєω☆☆☆

As it is with guns being hard to get in the UK you still read of shootings and what not and unlike in the USA it's usually dickheads shooting randoms for no reason. Just as they stab/beat up people for no reason, in the USA this doesn't happen as much as in the UK, usually if you are attacked in the US someone wants your money or you pissed them off.

My culture is american dude, I just live in the UK, but based on the sort of crimes that goes on here, that last thing I would want is for guns to be legalized. It's not like in the US where you can have good neighborhoods free of crime, even in the posh areas here you find random dickheads starting **** , bottling people, stabbings etc. And it's not like they had anything personal with the person too, just for no fuccin reason.
