    Question Hello! :)

I'm a new member here and I'm pretty much the opposite of what this site is about. I'm trying to get into shape and tone after gaining a lot of weight (45+ lbs.) due to not being able to move for months after severe auto accident injuries.

I'm 23 and about 5'5 and 213 lbs. I was overweight before and I'm extremely obese now. It's killing me, lol. And so, I wanted to join this site for both weight loss and toning tips.

I've been hitting the gym really hard lately and haven't seen much results. I decided to skip out on dieting and just change how I eat forever. I hit the gym for about an hour to two hours a day 4-5 days a week doing 35 minutes of ellipticals (heart rate at 192) and the rest on free weights.

I don't eat breakfast and barely drink water before the gym (I drank water before the gym a few times and I had awful cramps), grab some N.O. Xplode and wait 15-45 minutes before hitting the gym. I come home, wait an hour or so and eat grilled chicken with a small scoop of white rice. Then, I eat 2 apples later on in the day and for my next meal, I have grilled chicken and a small scoop of white rice again. 2-3 hours later, I hit the gym again and have an apple or two after if I'm hungry with a glass of milk.

I drink lots of water and don't drink any caffeine or juice. The only liquids I consume are milk, water, and N.O. Xplode.

I work so hard at the gym that I always feel like throwing up after.

    What am I doing wrong?

Before I gained all this weight, I never used to watch what I eat (it was healthy, but I'd eat much much more) and I'd just run a mile 2-3 times a week, box almost daily, and weight lift to keep my weight in line.

I'm so lost. I don't know where to begin. Please help!!

Well..I'm certainly no expert but after looking at hundreds of other threads that the "expert" women post on, I would have to say that you are probably not eating enough "fuel" for your body...

It's also a bit strange that you are not drinking that much water.. That certainly wouldn't be very good for you at all.

Maybe with me posting this half ass reply, it will bump your post up to the top so the "expert" women can jump in and give you some of their wicked-kick ass- advice!

Good luck! I hope one of the stars on this website is able to point you in the right direction and share some of their valuable knowledge with you!

.....It lets you know you're not dead yet"!

Sorry to hear about your accident, you've come to the right place - this place is filled with a lot of great people who will try to help. While there are no sure fire ways that work for everyone, here is my advice based on personal experience (losing 100+ pounds):

Brilliant first step - changing your lifestyle is permanent; dieting is temporary.

You could be in a state of over-training if you're not giving yourself enough time to recover. Try temporary scaling back the number of days per week you're going (e.g., go one day on, and one day off - but really push yourself when you're there).

Also, how long have you been on this routine? It could be that you just haven't started seeing progress yet.

Not quite sure why you're avoiding breakfast or water. Become friends with both

It seems like you may not be taking in enough calories which could slow down your metabolism (if the body thinks food may not be coming again for a while it's going to fight to hold on to the fat that you do have). Try keeping a journal with everything you eat and slowly decrease your calories over a prolonged period.

I also don't think a second session per day is required - feels like overkill. I'd compensate by incorporating small changes (always taking the stairs, parking farther away) rather than squeezing 2 intense gym sessions into a single day.

Don't give up - it's not an easy process but you CAN do it. Keep fighting, eating clean, exercising, and you'll absolutely get there.
