My BMR across a bunch of online calculators averages around 1400 calories..
Is it bad to eat below that?
Say 1200 calories max a day along with cardio?
Mainly wondering if that's counter-productive? (ie: slowing my metabolism?)

You need to understand the difference between BMR and your maintenance number. BMR is the amount of calories you burn by existing. If you woke up in the morning and laid in bed all day and went to sleep at the end of the day, you would be burning about 1400 calories. Any calories you burn through daily activities is your maintenance. So, your maintenance is probably around 2700, so theoretically, you could eat up to your maintenance level of calories and still lose fat. You don't have to eat fewer than 1400 if you don't want to because you are burning much more than 1400 calories every day.
I hope this helps. =)--------------------------------------------------------

Food Network is my porn.
Hakuna Matata.
Only "broscientists" use the term "broscience." I'm ok with being wrong, but calling "broscience" on me just doesn't cut it. Back up your claims.

I think most people are hungry on 1200 calories per day. Haha. Some people have the dedication to do it, but I don't. I'd rather be a little more full.

Mod Force: Lol, I am one of those people that has the dedication to diet: eating less is a lot easier for me...Actually keeping up on my exercise routine is where I fail
Bateman: Thats exactly what I did, 1200 calories a day.
And maintenance meaning the calories my body burns if I were to lay in bed all day?
