Might be a very dumb question...but what is natural peanut butter?
Are skippy and jif natural? I honestly do not know...i love peanut butter so if i can eat skippy and/or jif i would be happy
If skippy and jif are not "natural" then what are some examples of natural peanut butter?
I shop at Target and Cub foods for my groceries.

I'm from the UK so I'm not familiar with the US brands but from looking at their websites they both have natural variants of peanut butter.
http://www.peanutbutter.com/natural.aspx
http://www.jif.com/natural.asp
They should contain less trans-fats and sugar than the other varieties

I make my own peanut butter so that i know exactly what's in it and I know how fresh it is. It comes out excellent.
All you do is put a bunch of peanuts in a food processor and after a bit, out comes peanut butter. Add salt, honey or whatever else you want.
Natural peanut butter doesn't have to be only peanuts and salt, but when it has High fructose corn syrup or when they replace the natural oil with other oils then it stops being natural in my book.

As others have mentioned, its important you look at the label. It should read "Ingredients: Peanuts, Salt." Just because its a small ingredient list doesnt mean they all taste the same...small changes in batches of nuts or salt content really mixes things up. For what its worth, I really enjoy Smuckers' natty PB.
There are a few brands that will say "Natural" like Skippy (most brands that are of the "no stir" type) that usually have some sugar and palm oil. Im not gonna argue whether this is truly natural or not, but you will have to use personal thought on whether this fits in your nutrition or not. With the amount that I eat, I prefer "Peanuts, Salt."
YMMV.

so by your definition 'naturally more' peanut butter isn't natural because it has sugar, egg whites, and flax seed oil in it
hey retards. natural = natural ingredients. peanuts, salt, sugar, honey, oil = natural
non natural peanut butter will have partially hydrogenated crap in itVegan

Anctually, no. Peanut butter only needs one ingredient to be called peanut butter: Peanuts. There's nothing more to it. Sure, you can add all sorts of things to it and it's still peanut butter, but seriously, where do you draw the line? Have you read the ingredient list from a label of Jiffy lately?
Sure there are some manufacturers that make a great tasting "natural peanut butter" that contains more than just peanuts and salt, but personally, I prefer plain peanuts and salt.

Natural PB will list only peanuts in their ingredients.
Natural PB is also extremely overrated and you should only eat it if you prefer its taste to the taste of regular. Regular PB in these boards is demonized to completely illogical levels; I like Skippy's crunchy, so that's what I'll eat.I love beer too much.

from: http://www.examiner.com/x-24624-Long...ral-vs-regular
"...“Regular” peanut butters, such as Jif or Skippy contain added hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated fats, and mono-diglycerides, all genetically modified food products. These additives eliminate natural oil separation and increase shelf life, but they also contain dangerous trans fat*. “Regular” peanut butters also contain added sugar..."
Many of us eat a significant amount of PB, and if you like to think about long run health how can you not view Natty as FAR superior to regular PB?Team Never Full

If you are using a standard creamy, etc. Skippy...then yes, it actually does have partially hydrogenated vegetable oils (trans fat) though little quantities.
Im not looking to battle over PB...I love it in all forms. I guess Im one of those who more often than not prefers the taste of Natty over regular.
Much love for PB.Team Never Full
